kk heres the situation guys and gals....
used to work for a guy that owned the local boozer, hes now sold the place a sound chap from essex has taken over, were in the boozer lastnight for a few pints and got chatting, the pub is situated in a village population of about 500... and its not the busiest pub ever,so we started talking of a few ideas, like a curry night, joining a pool league and getting a few to play etc etc
anybody on here promote pubs clubs?got any good ideas on how to draw people in,its a mixture of people that drink in there from fishermen, footballers, diving club meetings etc etc but i dont want to see the place go down anyone got some sensible ideas to promote and take more people in?
im still half pissed to even think, rep for good ideas!

Why not head along a social club theme kind of thing?
Where you've got to be a member to drink in the place etc. Charge subs etc.
Can also do twinning with other social clubs near by, do like nights out at each others pubs etc?

Pub Quiz - winner gets a bottle of house champagne and everyones entry fee (£2 for teams of 4, the pub provide pens and paper). Offer a discount on drinks during the quiz?
Food - what food is served? Change the menu a bit?
A Wii night might put off people if loads of teenagers turn up and get rowdy.
Darts - 'nuff said.
If you bottle up some booze and send it to me, I can let you know what I think of the beverages served. A good pint will bring them in :p

true but the wii night is upstairs where there is another bar,the main bar is down stairs so if teenagers appear they are out of site lol

At the pub i work in, we have 'the big screen' to show all the premiership football and whatever other sports are on when the football isnt. (1 of 2 places in the area that do!) so that brings a load of people in.
We also have a social club, a football team, a darts team, a pool team and a dominos team.
also, between 12 and 7 in the day, the quietest time, pints are £2.20....that seems to work. lol
but a quiz night is always a good thing, make sure you get a good quizmaster and your set.
if you do food, just spruce up the menu a bit, maybe a 'before this time its this much' offer...

print out some flyers and post them around different places advertising new management and all the different offers you have. also do they hire out the room upstairs as a function room you could offer that as free it will get booked up in no time then they have more money to spend on the booze.the meals could also be like 2 for £** or a free pint or bottle of drink with your meal.how about using upstairs for the footy and olympics and all the other sports. hope you get what you wanted from all the answers and the pub stays open.
