right I can either get a 1.6 xsi locally 15min away for 550 in miami blue t&t 96k on the clock or a S reg GTi in that gold colour for 800 which has done 100k.
What should I go for? both are pretty much standard bar the xsi has had alot of stuff replaced in last few months like droplinks, driveshafts, new tyres. GTi is just well standard un-raped

thats true well gold gti is out of the picture now. So choice is 1.6 miami blue xsi or a diablo red 106 gti r reg like my old one for a bit more than the xsi.

feck sake thing is xsi is 15min away and has had loads of stuff done, gti has done the better side of 100k but has 10 months test and 3 months tax probably need alot of work done

After running a xsi for the past 3 weeks, getting back in my vts feels like a luxary car. Really big difference. As im a pussy, i say the GTi depending on what it needs

well gti wise I will know in a bit what it needs sorting out on it but as long as the bodywork and electrics work ok it may be a good one.
Xsi as said is the 1.6 one has had tyres, droplinks and shafts down recently new discs and pads to.

Like you say Bodywork & electrics need to be in good working order. Sounds like someone has given up on fixing the XSi due to bigger problems?
Wouldn't it best to have a ganders at both and make a decision based on that? I'd say GTi tbh, more desirable if you intend to resell. :y:
Good luck either way.

well we have good news! The diablo GTi is totally bog standard no mods what so ever mot for 10months 3 months tax left, apparantly smokes a bit when you boot it and accelerate hard so mau be piston rings starting to go? but sounds like it aint been serviced in a while so will do oil service on it, lob my oil catch tank on it and keep eye on oil levels.
Good thing is getting a spare 16v bottom end from pooleen anyways!! so guess what I am getting for £600

A bit late, but imo you kept saying the XSI in most posts, so seems you favoured that for some reason?
Good choice getting a GTi non the less. :)

go for the stolen gti
Sophia_Bush
13th August 2008, 21:49
Stolen gti it is lol tbh some many cheap reasonable ones about now. I mean my last one was 750 no tax or mot had 4 branch exhaust induction piper 270s and remapped by chipwizards so bargains there to be had for sure.
After speaking to the lad it was obvious he blatantly did not have a clue how much it was worth or did he have much mechanical knowledge
