1800 seems cheap, whats the mileage etc?

Looks quite a nice buy though.

kyle_d
14th August 2008, 21:02
Cheers pal, mileage was 57300 give or take a couple. Done nearly 1500 miles in 6 weeks lol.

It was cheap, but i bought it off a genuine member of corsa-c which is a site i regularly use.

Any other questions feel free to ask.

My best mate's got a VTR, got it the day before me.. Oli K, bought Oz_bournes old silver one. I love it, but at the same time... i love mine too. They're totally different cars though, mine is more modern whereas his is older but FAST.

I'm thinking of getting the 1.8SRI next year :D

If i had space and money i would deffo get a VTR/S but i just cannot afford to run/fix/insure one and i do love this car its really nice to drive just not got much power.. goes alright for a 1.2 though don't get me wrong.

Cheers for all the comments lads :D Least everyone didn't just say "why you on the site if you don't have a saxo blah blah" :P

that looks nice and clean. wheels go well

nice car

kyle_d
14th August 2008, 22:14
Thanks a lot!

Yeah i like the wheels, on the corsa-c site ALOT of people love the SRI alloys.. they come standard on all SRI's and everyone buys them just because you can slam your car the most with them but i'm not a fan i like to be different. Abit like the hype about VTS alloys on this site :P I'm not a fan of those at all tbh but i'm sure ALOT of people on here would disagree.

I'll come to a yorkshire meet in it with oli in his VTR and meet some of you lot :D

Mate has a 1.8 SRi mate,
cant go wrong with one really,
tidy motors and low insurance group.

(Group 9 for 1.8 16v 125bhp)
Quicker than a VTR too,
built really well also.

Thanks for all the comments, appreciated.

Yeah they're supposed to go well, should think so for a 1.8 :P I really like the build of the car and the drive so i think i'm just gonna stick with these and get the upgraded one next year.

My dream would be to get a Z20LET (2.0l Turbo VXR) engine dropped into it but it'd cost a bomb :( Never know in a couple of years i might be able to afford it. And i'm sure RickyP would be more than happy to do it for me :D

Why are you on this site if you have a corsa???? ;);););)

Very nice mate, I took a shine to the Corsa earlier in the year - check out Prads, Sammo22 & Hoops' corsas on CCUK too!

I like your one, but I think the exhaust i'd change for the twin exit Irmscher one! Other than that - spot on!

girlfriends best mate has your exact car the 1.2 sxi 16v. Went on a holiday this year with her she was shocked at how much the 1.1i pulled away from the 1.2 sxi and she always thought it was nippy for what it was.

Tbh I like the corsa c's a nice car you've got there mate, and I like what you've done so far, gone down the right road imo. Keep up the good work, I like the new seats too ;)

Good luck saving for the VXR lump. :y:

Thanks a lot mate. Yeah i go on all the time mate, seen their cars. You seen J2ONOs? His is one of my favs. Oh and i come on here because i was recommended by a few mates who are members, one has a VTR (Oli_K) and you lot seem a decent bunch on here :D

I'd like to get the twin irmscher exhaust but its £220 just for the back box.. Expensiveeee.

Rather get all my other plans done first :P

edit - you have a Zetec S Fezzy!! Cheeky bugger hahaha.. i love those, was one of my other options as first car but a bit expensive to buy and on insurance for me :(

Tellllllll me about it mate, black angels are like my most wanted mod.. but theyre £130+ and i dont have the monies at the moment :( I so want them though, i've tried to make everything black/stealth and that's the main spoiler for the outside looks of the car imo.

The 1.1i saxo pulls from the 1.2sxi? Seriously? I was shocked by how the 1.2 goes lol, but iv never driven a 1.1 saxo so wouldnt be able to say my view.

I can keep up to my mates 1.4 golf though, his is 75bhp and mines 73bhp so not suprised.

Can't waiiiiiit to get the seats in, gonna take out the back seats, get harnesses and add a rear strut brace on the back when i can. Just for looks really, not totally stripping it for extra speed or anything as i know its no VTS under the bonnet lol.

I like the the halo's too.. i just wish they made angel eyes i liked for the saxo :(

Just had a look on ebay and the black corsa angel eyes look really nice :D

Spent most of today cleaning the car, gave it a realllly good wash i used the 2 bucket method for the first time and was shocked by all the sh*t in the rinse bucket. I used the following products and also Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner but that was in the house when i took this pic.. No machines were used this time, all by hand.

All pics were taken on a Fujitsu Finepix 9500S

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b231/kyle011288/DSCF0893.jpg

Got a few new products on the way too such as some new shampoo, a lambswool wash mitt and a superspray for the hosepipe.

Now for the rest of the pics :D I got carried away as it was the first time i've used a camera like this! It's my mates dads that does lots of photography he let me borrow it :D There are loads more but i've uploaded all my favourites. Hope you like!

Cheers mate i was well pleased with these pictures :D how long did you spend on yours? This took around 4-5hours in total just on the outside, might give the inside a quick hoover tomorrow.. did it all the otherday but there's bits allll over the carpets already! Fooking Autumn does my head in, get tiny leaves everywhere from silver birch trees!

Have you posted any pics?

Spent a few hours i think.. I bought some autoglym deep shine the other day. Had limited resourced today.. but access to a jetwash :D
Due to lack of funds it's washing with a sponge and turtlewax shampoo.. then polishing with my autoglym stuff. It looks pretty good.. but i'm sure it could be a lot better if i invested in some decent stuff.. I'm planning on getting some dodo juice, and a proper wash mit at some point. I have no money :(
Also to be honest i don't really know too much about all the wax, polish, glaze sealants and all that lot.. i just want one single product to get rid of my swirl marks, and give me a really deep wet look shine.
I guess we don't live in a perfect world though :(

I've got a progress thread with some pictures on.. the most recent ones where taken after my last polishing session (using some 5 quid turtlewax stuff :D)
I live up a farm track.. so my car never stays clean for long :(
Anyway, my progress thread kinda explains my situation. Plenty of time, but no money :D

The C20let is the Redtop and Z20let is the VXR right? I wouldn't be bothered which one it was if i did it aslong as it was in mint condition, although i do love the look of the VXR engine.

Wouldn't be for a long time though as my current job is poo :(

How about a little spoiler? Corsas look mint with them on, and one of them irmscemenemeemeger (lol) grilles?

kyle_d
23rd August 2008, 11:08
Irmscher grill lol i well want one, but i need the facelift bumper to be able to get one.. and that's about £200 to get one of those painted, and then £140 for the grill.

Might get an SRI spoiler, they're colour coded and stick out just a little bit.. don't want no Halfords jobby.

I think i'm gonna focus on getting my bucket seats in, then get harnesses and then do something with ICE in the back but only something subtle but good. I'm definately upgrading my front comps then gonna amp them, and i'm thinking of getting a sub mounted into a fibreglass or mdf surrounding with the rear of the speaker pointing towards the middle of my buckets and the 2 amps behind it under clear plastic. Hard to explain i'll post a picture when i've drawn it out properly.

That will keep me busy and skint for a while lol.

Yeah but you must remember it was around a few country roads I was with her and my cars around 2 seconds quicker to 60mph than her corsa but my car is alot lighter ;). I can believe you catching up with a heavy golf though, weightloss is everything. However the corsa has alot of space in the rear, something the saxo doesn't have, so passengers tend to have a good ride :zainy:

The last few pictures look awesome of the clean, and really show your wheels up well, keep it up buddy.

kyle_d
23rd August 2008, 18:00
1.1 saxo is 2 seconds quicker to 60mph than a 1.2 corsa :fcuk::fcuk: you sure about that lol that doesn't sound right. If it is, those 1.1s must be alot quicker than i thought they would be. Although i was shocked by how fast VTRs are when i first when in my mates. Would love to see the difference between a VTR and S.

Thanks again mate! I went out again today and took some more good shots of it, my friends gonna edit them on some photo software and make some mad pics for me :D I'll post when i get them.

Rear seats are now out. And working on getting subframes for bucket seats, someones said they could maybe make me some off to take it to them tomorrow to see if they can.

11 Hour Detail!

I took my car to a detailer yesterday to see if he could do anything about all the white spots of paint i had all over my car and also the swirl marks over my whole car. We started at 10am and i left just after 9pm i was so nackered, the job wasn't even finished but i wanted to get home at this time. The whole job was done for free too with me helping and learning too.

Here's a list of the products that were used in order of use..

-I4D Bright wheels
-EZ Detail Brush
-Couple of other wheel brushes
-Super Snow Foam & Karcher Snow Foam Lance
-Maguiars shampoo plus
-Lambswool wash mitt
-2 x tall buckets with grit guards
-Maguiars Last Touch
-Sonus green mild clay bars
-3M 3434 tape
-Menzerna Finish Polish (PO106FA)
-Menzerna intensive polish (PO85RD)
-3m Fast Cut Plus
-3m Ultra Fina SE
-Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze with Acrylic Shine II
-Victorias Concours Wax

And a few other little bits.

The car got the full worx. The wheels were done first, then the car was rinsed, foamed, washed, rinsed and dried. Then we started with the claying, i had paint spots ALL over the car and they were well hard to get off. I spent about 2 hours just claying it alone because the spots were not coming off, i got them off in the end though. Then it was on with the polishing which took up the rest of the day. I was amazed by how much detail and effort this guy put into my car. Nearly every little scratch was removed and all swirls and spots were totally removed. There are a few deeper scratches still left but i'm more than amazed by what it looked like in the end it is like the whole car's had a respray.

Now for some pics, i didn't get many good ones as i was getting on with the car but there's still a few, i took a few this morning too as it was dark and i was fooked by the end of last night. Also, the first half of pics are from my phone, last few are from a good camera i took earlier.

lol thanks bud, yep 11 hours and that's only..

-rinsed, foamed, washed, rinsed and dried (about an hour if that)
-clayed, this took ages as i had alot of paint spots ALL over my car badly. (couple of hours and alot of elbow grease)
-polishing bonnet, front quarters, doors, rear quarters and boot. (rest of day).

Still roof to do an drivers side to glaze and wax to do. Gonna go back to see him sometime soon to finish it off.

Nice one Ricky, i'll nip over with Oli next time he comes over.. wunt mind you looking at something for me :)

Here's an update!! Got comps in, only a temp job though, getting amped and sorting MDF baffle out to fit better.

Got my new comps today, and went straight out and started to fit them.. struggled to get the first doorcard off, so searched on here and realised there was 3 metal clips under the top of the door.

Anyway, the comps are Viper 650.2s, they're WELL lightweight and the crossovers are massive  they're bi-amp capable too or something, means you can have an amp for your tweeters and an amp for your comps.. my mate got some cheap jbl 13cm ones yesterday and even those are heavier than mine. Paid £105 delivered for the comps off a member on talk-audio. They dont half wobble when on loud lol.

Here's a bit about them and a spec..

Brand New - Viper 650.2 Components (6.75") 125w rms

These are lovely comps and were made by Directed Audio, and are 6.75" components, with Neodium mags ( nice n light ), Titanium Tweeters, and very comprehensive Passive xovers, which can also be Bi-amped.

Size: 6.75"
Magnet: 49 gram, neo
Power handling: 125 watts RMS/175 peak
Impedance: 4 ohm
Freq. Resp.: 58Hz - 25kHz
Efficiency: 89 dB 1W/1M
Tweeter Description: 25mm titanium dome
Crossovers: 3rd order Butterworth
Depth: 3-1/4"

These sound well good already just off my Alpine HU, can't wait to recieve my JBL GTO 75.2 amp that's on its way to me. That will give them 97WRMS @ 4ohms :D

Few pics from today (didnt realise camera was on black & white until later :lol)...

Next step for ICE will be installing the amp, wiring, tweeters and crossovers. Will be putting some MDF in the back to bolt the amp/s and crossovers too and then covering it all up with a false floor and sorting out a sub and amp.

Which alpine speakers are you running? And are they amped?

some alpine things.. urm.. they were about 30 quid, The second cheapest set alpine make i think. They're amped with a shitty cheap amp too.. I'm so low on funds :D
It sounds OK.. i mean.. it makes noise that can go relatively loud so i'm not complaining. I used to have the same speakers with some really good alpine amps and an alpine crossover. Also had a sub running off another alpine amp. That sounded amazing.. but then when i put it all into the saxo the amps died. I miss the sub and everything.. but i cant afford another amp to get it all wired in. Oh well.. might go for some 6X9's in my rear quarter panels to get some bass.. I'm planning on stripping it out at some point.. so there you go :)

Thanks for your comments, afraid the seats have now gone dropped them off today.. i took my standard seats out to find theres a computer under the seats attached to a seatbelt pretensioner and if i remove it the airbag light comes on.. also, there aren't any subframes for the seats specifically for a corsa... just too much hassle fitting them in to be honest.

Getting the ICE done is my main priority now, all my money's going into that.

Total money spent.. hmm, to be honest.. havent spent that much on it.. most things iv either done myself such as painting front V grill, debadging, smoking side repeaters. The alloys and exhaust came with the car.

I bought the car for £1800, only thing i've bought are eyebrows £15 (not going on until i get black angel eyes), front components £105, JBL amp (£40 second hand), alpine headunit £100. That's about it.

Got another amp, sub, sub box, wiring and few other bits and bats for ice to buy soon.

lol fair enough, should just save rather than buying proper cheap stuff though mate.. or find out what's half decent and search ebay.. can gt right bargains on there for audio stuff.

Yeh.. i'm impatient :D I got the headunit and original alpine amps off ebay.. and they were amazing and the entire system came to about £120. Saying that it is a retro tape player :D

It was about a year ago i bought it all.. and nowadays i just don't have any money. I'll get round to a decent setup when i've got money to spend :D

Update - Got wiring kit in and ready for amp to arrive.. hopefully in the morning!

Got everything except the speaker wires in and ready to go! All hidden, the lot only wires you can see are the ends of the RCA, the end of the live, and remote with a bit of wire on each. Well pleased with it. Havent connected the live to the battery yet but its through the gromet, got a crimped ring terminal on and fuse/fuse holder to go on the end once amp arrives.. didn't fancy having a power cable running through my car not attached to anything lol.

Also, got my crossovers bolted to the door! :D Didnt think i was gonna be able to get them on there with them being so big but i managed it.

Update! Floor nearly done, but not in yet.

The past 2 days i've been making the MDF floor for the amps to be attached to, i bought a 8x6ft piece of 12mm MDF from Woodlands for £13 and still got about 1/3 of it left. Most of the last 2 days has been just for this floor, taken me agesss.. but it's almost done now. I also took the rear seatbelts out which meant taken off most the back plastics, in the last few days i've taken off nearly every bit of plastic on the inside of my car lol.

Still LOTS to do, see list at bottom of this post.

Amp's finally here! JBL GTO 75.2

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b231/kyle011288/IMG_0051.jpg

Still to do:

- Fit hinges to door for spare wheel
- Fit all wood into the car
- Finish off wiring (wiring speaker wire from amp to crossovers/comps and tweeters and also connecting the live lead to battery)
- Install and secure the amp
- Buy either a JBL GT5 or find a better 2nd hand sub for sale for around £40-50
- Order a sub box from BFUK, probabley a ported one.
- Get an amp for sub, probabley a JBL 301.1 or a 601.1 depending what sub i get.
- Upgrade some of the wiring once i have 2 amps running.
- Make new MDF baffles, as the ones i bought off somebody on here didn't fit right so had to customise them and i can only get 4 out of 6 screws in due to one edge of both baffles is quite thin.
- Carpet MDF
- Sound deadening last

Maybe new headunit at some point too.
And anything else i think of in the process.. will update tomorrow with some pics of the floor in and amp wired up.

All the wood should be in and finished tomorrow aswell as wiring and amp aslong as it stays dry!

great buy and great progress.. I'm looking at getting a corsa sxi now to go with the vtr. I just can't let the vtr and after another car. So was thinking the corsa as I do like the look of them. They good to drive/ would you recommend it ?

kyle_d
16th September 2008, 23:28
VERY easy to drive, goes quick for a 1.2 (IMO), not so fast top end.

My mate's got a VTR and i'm always with him so i can compare them quite a bit.. his is alot faster obviously but if i thrash mine which i do lol i give him a good run lol

Also, i think it's because i have alot of trust in my car and myself but i go alot quicker round corners to him bit boaty if you just ease off and turn hard but handles well if you accellerate round corners. Could be something to do with my 17s and it being lowered though.. god knows.

I'd recommend it to be honest, but that's like asking you if you'd recommend a VTR lol.

Totally different drive compared to the VTR, i've had a go in my mates and it is WELL different to drive.. gearbox is tiny, pedals are really close and it feels like there's not much of the car around me (if you get me).

Thanks for post.

Nice one mate :D Taken me 3 days to get this floor done, been taking my time as i realllly didnt want to put any splits in the wood and have to start again!

Update - Floor finished, just needs carpeting.

Got the floor finished today. Had to fit the hinges to the door and floor, cut a bit more off the end near back of seats and add a bit more shape, bought some brackets to attach 2 pieces together and also nailgun'd some blocks of MDF undernear in certain places to add support. The door had to be slightly modified to be able to open easily too.

Just needs carpeting now, it is a very good fit! You can grab hold of the ends and try move it and it doesn't move one bit. Very happy with it.

Didn't get round to fitting amp in, no point putting it in until i have go my speaker wire into my doors which is gonna take quite a while, need to work out how to get the wiring through the door wiring loom.

Update - Amp in and working!

Got the speaker wires in today, took quite a while but well worth it in the end. Got crossover, amp and comps wired up.. but not tweeters at the moment, need more work and i had to shoot off to work. Now it's too dark and i'm working sh*tty hours tomorrow :( The weekend the tweeters will be done.

The speakers are making the plastic on my door well vibrate and it's doing me in already so that's gonna have to be chopped at the weekend, could really do with getting sound deadening soon but funds are saying no.

I managed to get the speaker wire to the doors without cutting any holes in either the door or the rubber grommet 8) I lifted the inside bit up with a screw driver, put another one in to hold it up, undid the outside of the grommet, taped my wire to the first screwdriver, pushed it from the inside, came out the otherside, put some tape around it and put the grommet back in, was a bit of hassle but got there in the end.

Not got doorcards on yet, had to rush to work so left all the plastics off the door, left my passengers window all the way down and couldnt even put it up the switch was still on the doorcard lol *gutted*.

Well pleased it's all in.. need tweeters in as the high's dont sound that good but the mids are basssy.. especially when i push on the metal.

Update - Comps and tweeters finished, picked up sub too.

Finished off the front today by mounting the tweeters and wiring them in etc.. Also, i went and picked up my sub (JL GT4) looks good, won't be going in for a while yet though dont have the money for the amp and wiring etc..

I'm well pleased with the front though, until i got the tweeters in it was loud and bassy but was like listening to a cassette player.. barely any highs in the music. But now it's well good, clear highs and bassy mids.

Also, i got some tubing round the speaker wire between the door and car and taped it up so it's not that noticeable now.

Few decent pics of my progress, sub's not in now this was just for show...

car look really good glad you clean it by hand think it safer. i clean and polish my car by hand take a while but worth it i like your corsa . had a corsa b for my 1st car. done 40k in a year didnt service it thrashed the hell out it and passed mot with 90k on clock. felt bad i treated it like shit. lot more cheaper to run than my vts. corsa c lot better shape. youre car look good think it only small car you can pull massive alloys off
