Ive just purchased a vtr :D :D
Im wondering what sort of mpg i should expect, its completely standard at the moment, the parkers guide says 31 mpg, do you guys think this is accurate?

I suppose it varies on whether it is town mileage and motorway mileage, also it varies how you drive aswell, because im tight with money i travel along in 5th gear at 35mph, if you drive sensible i think maybe 35mpg around town, and 40-45 motorway but i might be wrong.

on the motorway i did a long run the other day and got about 100 miles to a tenner...
just a rough guide...
petrol was at 112.9 if ya want to work it out...
around town it is poor though....
get around 60 miles..

thats a very good point!!!
i got 100 miles to the tenner when doing 70 in 5th all the 100 miles...
another 100 miles included some high revs in 5th gear and i got about 60miles to the tenner

I just got 428 miles from a tank, about 100 more than I ever have before. That was with a long road trip driving at 70mph on the motorway and sticking to the limits all the way.
I read an article in Whatcar and is was very surprising at how much your mpg drops at speed. Irrc, at 90mph your mpg can be half that as when driving at 70mph.
Town driving was around 29mpg for me and motorway around 38mpg when I was checking it. But that last tank is easily 40mg+.

I averaged 38mpg when I had mine around town.
On a long run - I got 447 miles from one tank I think.

All depends how you drive, accelerate quick and brake harshly will give you shit figures. Accelerate steadily and let your car slow down naturally rather than using the brakes will obviously give you better figures.
Sayer laid out a beast of a guide ages back, give it a search if you're that interested :y:
