ive never bothered wih fully comp, add the excesses and extra cost if you do make a claim and it works out more than the cars worth if its less thank 2 grand.
but i'd shop around because i can insure a vts for less than that with 0ncd and a ban on my record

Polo 6N2 GTI
19 with 2 Years experience but was on parents insurance so no NCB, only £1100 Fully Comp now with £100 excess ;)
VTS May do it on corners, but fuck it, dub looks cooler and has endless features.

Not really looking to spend more than 3k really as its onle for 8-12 months until i get my new one :)
So clio's really out the question although i do like them :) 106 GTi i can imagine is the same as VTS and they are all high mileage :( Not really into civics.

My GTI next to mates 1.4.
For £4k I got Y reg, 65k fvwsh, all belts etc done, brand new gearbox and Toyo's all round, add that to the xenon's, climate control, heated electric everything and sounding like this (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3QrNbeWZhbQ&feature=related)

Round town on last tank I got 320 miles to £45, isnt too bad at all.
VTS will probbaly do it yea, but german build quality, and deck it on some coily's, you wont be able to go quick, scrub on everything.
My mates tyres lasted him 4 months ^ such a camber and scrubbing, actually through to the wire when he got them changed.

lol, get yourself on Edition38.com, there are some amazing ones on there, and ClubPolo.com
Build quality second to none, 9 out of 10 people dont shut the doors properly, nice big and solid doors, no rattles or anything. Tis pretty comfy, its got harder suspension as its the GTI but still no problems, and if I crash I know it wont hurt as much as my saxo.

cammed vts is what you want ;)
I'll give you that, yours is a mint example and something nice an different, but for young drivers, the premium on a VTS doesnt seem worth it to me

i looked at polo gti's before i got the s, lovely cars, one guy had one down the road for sale, bargain price, looked at it, said if its still there at end of holiday i will have it, by time i got back it was gone :( they hold there value alot, which suprised me at the price of some of them when you see the miles and year
yes i would disown you

I'd fucking hope so ;)
Look out for Gearboxes, often go by 70k, and the receipt for mine was £813 so try an get that done if you can, pretty costly if not.
And if it hasnt got Xenons walk away, it's been crashed. Dont ever believe the "I didnt like them so put normal headlights in"

Xenons, yea, bulbs are like £100 or so quid each, but can get in group buys for £35 a bulb, and the lights themselves, bloody hard to get hold of. But that shouldn't worry you, as you're hopefully not going to crash it ;)
Will reply to your PM now mate

Sutch
18th August 2008, 00:27
Same engine though isnt it? 125hp?
Same engine yea, newer Lupos got a stronger 6 Speed box too, but I feel a Lupo drives weird, I like small cars, but that just felt weird to drive. A lot more ££ for a similar spec to a Polo too
craigy_87
18th August 2008, 00:29
agreed on that they seem to cost a fair whack more
Calyx
18th August 2008, 00:32
Yep just noticed! Like 2-3k more!
In theory could you have the 6 speed box fitted to the polo?
Sutch

Theory says yes, but it isnt that easy, havent read up on it really ever, but have seen people having problems for one reason or another.
If the box is the worry, for £7k you can have a 280BHP 1.8 20V Turbo lump and running gear all put in a Polo ;)
Calyx
18th August 2008, 00:40
Na like i say its only going to be for a year max but dont fancy the box going in that year :(
Will be after a quicker car then ;)

Just done a lil search on clubpolo for you about insurance.
"hey I'm 19, got my polo gti about a month or 2 ago and I'm paying 1150ish with swinton.
i just went thru one of those comparing sites n it sorted it all out for me smile.gif"
I was 19 with 1 year NCB and had my license for 2 years when i first insured mine with Admiral all mods declared(coilies & exhaust). £900 Fully comp.
I'm 19, 2 years no claims, 3 points tho !
all mods declared, with hic 900quid ish fully comp
Link to show I'm not making it up to look cool ;) (http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/index.php?showtopic=116056)

Oh right happy days, i don't know how the lupo's feel to drive, i have had mt VTR for 2 weeks now, and i don't feel confident going over 60mph in it lol, when i was insured on the focus zetec it felt like a good, strong, solid car, my VTR just feels to light lol!
