Yea, getting bigger brakes on by friday but got to wait for the alternator sorting, and then got to get it through the MOT before anything else. Could be hard without a CAT lol.

It was in mint condition but for some unknown reason people keep putting dints in the passenger door.

As you can see the weave is really good and they all fitted fine except for the brake cover. It didnt fit at all so a bit of butchering was required but got it sorted in the end.

Apologies for the brake cover not fitting, we found there are a couple of different versions of reservoir, unfortunately a downside to inheriting some pro comp moulds where we have not moulded direct form OE parts. A chap came to the workshop for fitting of engine bay kit, all okay except the brake cover, his reservoir was completely different, what year is your car ? we need to research the brake reservoirs etc to find out which ones it always fits and the ones it either needs modifying or just not suitable for. Glad you are happy with them, much better fit now since going to 2 x 200g plies of carbon, as they are covers they don't need any rigidity to them, so no need to go overboard

thanks

Fail Again!

Got somewhere to put it through on emissions and then then decided to fail it on other things instead:

All indicator bulbs wrong colour, apparently they have faded.
No bonnet safety catch

So got ripped off to fook.

Also the car is never going to be turbo'd the kit will be going up for sale as I now dont want to spend money on it.

The car may also be up for sale soon, with or without MOT im unsure.

dannygti
1st October 2008, 16:23
dont lose the spirit mate, once its through the mot youll want to carry on as normal i bet.

also the list of things its failed in isnt very hard to sort out.... so get on it buddy;)

makaveli144
1st October 2008, 16:27
also the list of things its failed in isnt very hard to sort out.... so get on it buddy

but they then added emissions to it as they failed it on everything else. So the list is bigger than when it started. I have completely lost the spirit tbh. I love the car and driving it still makes me smile but I cant be arsed with this every year, it really isnt worth it. And it just feels like im throwing money at it for no reason.

Also the BTB may be for sale or swap for a supersprint.

dannygti
1st October 2008, 16:30
sell the re-mapped ecu and then buy a predator. then you can map it for emissions and for power. then youll already have a head start with your turbo conversion, you could basically fit it, and a turbo car will pass emissions better.

makaveli144
7th October 2008, 17:51
Looking at selling or breaking the car, offers on both. so I can see if it will be worth it.

Please bear in mind if sold it will be wothout an MOT.

I would also consider swapping it.

chris205
7th October 2008, 18:17
dont give up mate, theres times Ive felt that way, fed up of the bother of faffing around spending money, but once its done its done for a year,

you will probably always have trouble with emissions but once you've found a garage that are willing to turn a blind eye you should be fine

makaveli144

Its just not happening, just bought a standard exhaust and cat but it wont fit the BTB manifold. Its not worth throwing money at it. So just looking to regain as much of the money as I can.

the bore of the mani was too big and the system as too short to reach the mani and fit properly.

mine fitted spot on mate, not sure what your doing wrong tbh.

The only thing i had to do was change the hanger at the back as mark 2 is different to mark one hangers

makaveli144
8th October 2008, 21:15
It wasnt me who tried to do it. It was a mechanic who does everything with the cars, it just really wouldnt fit. Pulling it forward to reach the CAT meant it wouldnt sit on the centre hanger and hit allsorts underneath the car.

So the aim now is to get it all sorted and sold.

Started to fit the carbon fibre widemouth today, what a nightmare lol, they dont fit very well but there ok otherwise. Im going to get mine filled in with black silicone in the gaps where it doesnt meet the bumper properly so you shouldnt be able to tell.

Also sprayed my two fans quartz silver, there a bit brighter than the car, but in the dark behind the bumper I hope they will fit in.

Its a BTB, they are fairly quiet as they have 3 silencers and a much bigger bore than other exhausts. But it sounds awesome and gets loud towards 8k revs.

You cant get them from anywhere unless someone sells one as they dont make them any more, and there are only a few around.

You are looking about 300-400 if someone sells up.
