Agreed GTi's aren't cheap. Odd question - but have you try searching classifieds/for sale/106 OC for some?

Well i have said it before and i'll say it again, you get what you pay for.

i mean there are times where you get bargains, but most the time you are paying the value of the vehicle really, so save up a bit and get a nice car thats been well looked after.

So you make a thread saying you want one.

But now are unsure because of an experience.

106 GTi and VTS are the same car ... If a Saxo you've had in the past can rust, so will a 106. Just make sure you give your next acquistion a real good look over.

i have had a white gti and have had 3 saxos 2 vtr's and my current vts

the gti and saxo are the same the only thing i think the 106 has on the saxo is the half leather but then u can buy the interior and put it in the saxo so its a win win!

my 106 was quicker but then it had more done to it than my saxo so just need to get more done to it

i sold my gti with 70'000 on it lowered cyclones install 306gti brakes manifold centre section backbox, induction kit, half cage, it was mint very well looked after!
sold 1 day after being advert'd at 4000 but that was about a year and a half ago

so do pay 4 what you get!

but hope you get a good one.
good luck chum

my flatmates had to almost standard vts and currently got two, actually now one as off today nearly identical 106 gti's, said the gti are alot quicker. He bought the first 1 for £900 need afew odd & sodds doing for MOT mainly just new brake discs & pads, cost im £1200 in total, that was for an R reg with 90k on it, then afew weeks after he bought another one same coulour diablo red aroung the same millage for £900 needed no work, sold it today for £1600

lol @ GTis being alot faster.
Same car,
approx same weight,
same engine,
same gearbox.

Yeah - I can see the 106 being much faster too!

blackvtrt
25th August 2008, 00:56
just repeating what he said, had two vts with around the same millage and age as the 106 gti's, might just be the case of the 106's have kept there factory figure outputs better

Important rule... don't skimp... buy something decent or you'll regret it.

Things to watch out for... don't buy a car that's coming up to a cambelt change, or a big service. Don't buy a car that looks too good to be true for the money- it often is a pile of shit. Don't buy a car that has its engine running when you get there. Always, always get an inspection done- the AA will perform a beyond thorough investigation, at the very least get an HPI check done.
