hi i'm new here, i got into saxos after reading an article about the vtr in a couple of car magazines, and i find that the car has a lot of potenital for modding it. I was wondering what type of saxo to get when i'm old enough to drive (im 15 now) so it would give me a lot of time to save for one.

Hiya welcome to the site, I started with a 1.1 as its far cheaper on the insurance when you first start driving. VTR and VTS's are very nice but will be more expensive on insurance. Maybe go for a westcoast 1.4 as this is in between but has same bodykit as the vtr.

Ive got a 1.4 westcoast mate, theyre pretty good, i got killed on insurance though becouse of my area!

Aparently mine has a VTR engine though which ive got to confirm!

my first car was a wee 1.25 16v zetec fiesta then i fancy something a little sexier and quicker so i treated myself to a VTR,
mate i think you should get a 1.1i or if you can stretch to it get a 1.4 westcoast, they look just as cool as the vtr/vts!

I'd go for a 1.1 if you have your heart set on a saxo. Saves you some insurance money and they are quite decent. My first saxo was a 1.1 desire and i loved it.

Deffers get a moped for you 16th. Again i did it and it gave me great experience on the road which helped me when i was starting to drive cars :)

get a honda x8r, what a moped! also get a 1.1 saxo mate, no point shelling out loads on your first car. its your learning car you could prang it. i just had a lil 106 1.4 when i first passed only cost me 800 bux and i loved it lol.

But yeah, around streets and stuff, they're nippy. on motor way, they're not so nippy lol. I have noticed on the motor way, it will decide to bump from 60-80 with ease, so long as the engine has been running for a while. But you wont want to think about speeding when you first get your car surely! Easy way to accidents!

forgot to say. Even at 22, i think because of my area, i looked up VTR insurance, they they want stupid money still, so in my opinion, until i finish uni get a proper job, i'm sticking with my 1.1 lol

You could do what i did, and got an old mini as a first car - lol this comment is gonna go down well - but anyway - cheapest insurance you could probably get, very different, very modifiable, people do still respect em, and lots of fun to drive. Then get yourself a VTR when your a bit older cuz I got one yesterday and the thing is friggin awesome.

Only downside is, you wont pull any women in an old mini. None. Zip.

i know someone like u who wanted a 1.1 at 17 which was average round here but now he's in a audi A3 1.9 tdi lol......
