ive seen some footwell neons on ebay, i know they are chavy and tacky but i want some as they are cheap :) and can look ok.

ive seen these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WHITE-Interior-Neon-Lights-Kit-footwell-boot-neons_W0QQitemZ150284825878QQcmdZViewItem?hash=ite m150284825878&_trkparms=72%3A1121%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C 240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

and they come with a metal shielded inverter..what does this do?
also i assume that once i have them i can cut the wires coming straight out of the neons and put a cigerette lighter plug on the end of the wires and plug it into the cigarette lighter socket?
is that right?

cheers
Nick

they can look ok if fitted right ie soo you cant see the bulb and just the glow, still wouldnt have them in my car though

best to hard wire them in imo and fit an inline switch you hve a multimeter its pretty easy to do, id wire them into the switched live and with a switch as said

yeh, i was gunna put a switch in one of the blanks on the switch panel, next to the hazard lights.
and have white as it looks least tackiest, and i wud hide them tonnes so just a white glow. i want them to come on only when i open the doors, but think its too hard, someone had a thread on here about it but never finished it lol

thing is wires differ on cars sometimes, mine for one has different coloured wires to yours, multimeter is the only sure way to test the wires

Mine are connected via cig lighter, with a 3 socket transformer and flick switch box to select the lights you want located were the 2 little green LEDs are.
were bought as a early mod as yu try anything to make your car look good for cheap lol but they have remaind on as i still do have a soft spot for them:oops:
Go for it:y:

I had some blue ones in my corsa c when I first started driving and I had them hard wired in with a switch. They look pretty neat as you couldn't see the bulb, just the glow.
Why don't you wire them up to your interior light then they should (technicaly) light up when the doors open. You can run the wires up the inside of the doors and along inside the roof lining straight to the interior light then you ave a nice subtle mod and no wires showing. Easy to wire up to as its only two wires to the interior light.

Go all out and make sure theres no green bits here and blue there.

Sticking to white is a good idea.

But all blue does look lush:

Well i know im a n00b but i thought i would share my find with you.

I have read guides on here that say tap into the stork ect ect to turn them on, but ive found something easier.

behind the centre console you will feel the "cig" lighter and on the side of that is a little black box this is the bulb that illuminates the front of the "cig" lighter when your lights are turned on. Unplug the adaptor from the back of the little black box and it is just a single brown wire. This wire is a live activated by turning the switch on your stoke. So simple cut the adaptor off the end and attach your live to that. I can't tell you how much current draw this wire can handle but i am using ultra low current led Lights.

Not the best guide but i thought i would let you all know. :y:

And im pretty sure there is a guide by Pred floating around on these.

In the drivers footwell i just stook them up undder the dash were i could relly think they stook on the bit of carpet up there.and in passenger they are just threaded throught the million and one wires up there lol
as for my dials they are just standerd aswell they just have 2 little blue LED's on them aswell (in my progress thread)
blue ftw id say white would just look to normal imo:y:

No no they plug into the cig lighter aswell and you just run the wires up in the trim so you can see them and then pop them out just below the indicators and stick them were i have them peice of piss lol i leave the clock LEDs on all the time and just the footwell ones when im pulled up;)

yeah think they designed to go anywhere in your car but i just thought they would look good with the dials being white therefor showing the glow!!

no there just blue but all blue leds have a slight uv effect imo thats whey the react with the green on the dials and make they look good lol
well my 2 footwell neons and them LED's and connected up to a 3 socket flick switch therefore i just have 2 flick a switch to put them on when im driving, normally put them on when i put my headlights on:y:

NICK2506

Yeh, im planning on hard wiring in my neons to my interior light, so comes on when the doors open. You know the bulb that lights up the ring around the cigarette lighter when the headlights are on, I could take a feed from that for the dial LED's because then they would come on when I turn on the headlights :D

Yeah quiet good idea about wiring them up to the cig lighter, but if for some reson you dont want them on you screwed lol and as for them wired up for only coming on when the door is open. wouldnt you have to sit with you door open just in order to have them on when you wnat them on??

But I would only have neon to show mates, and mates would see them when getting in the car, and I wouldnt drive with them on.

And if you hard wired in the blue led's you could always put a small switch somewhere along the wire leading to them, so if you have the headlights on but dont want the LED's on just switch the switch.

Yehh, theoriticalley, I could have a wire coming from the interior light, and one from the cigarette lighter. they could both have a switch on them, so I can have the switch on from the cigarette lighter off and the other one on and they will come on when doors open, then i could have the one from the interior light off and the cigarette lighter switch would control when I have them on or off, or both off and then not at all ... if that makes any sense :S

This may sound stuuuupid, but I've only just worked out that the interior light is also a rocker switch. LOL so if I want them on while parked with doors shut, I can switch the switch so they stay on permanently. lol and I can always put a blue LED bulb in the interior light or take the bulb out.

ahhhhhhhhhh so you can i forgot that aswell well there you go then lol spot on! would look well with a blue LED in the interior light insted of the bulb! the only thing with those neons are they take a min or so to warm up and give off a bright light when the first come on the arnt the brightest but a spose you can still see then good in the darkwhen your gettin in and out!:y:
