Hi

I would love to pretend I have a saxo but I'm actually the mother of the son with the Saxo and I need some advice if anyone can help.

Robert bought a VTR a year ago which he really shouldn't have what with being only 17 and a 3-day old driving licence. He has paid "massive" insurance for a year and crashed into the back of a Golf shortly after getting the car which meant a claim on his insurance. His insurance runs out at the end on September and I need to sell the car as the insurance is going to be even worse than it currently is....... this is where I need some help if anyone has any advice? I thought asking people who have them and know them would be my best bet.

I have looked up prices and specs for the car but the sale price ranges massively and I don't want to advertise it with an unrealistic price but also don't want to give it away.

The car is Saxo VTR 02 plate and the log book says grey but it actually looks blue. It's got 58,600 miles on the clock and 4 owners. No HPI on it.

What would be a ballpark price to advertise it and am I better selling it via local papers, Autotrader or one of the big internet sites that offer 100's of pages accross the country?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

PS: He does know it's being sold and has (sadly) accepted it.

Get a HPI check and your be able to sell it for more, it could be worth up to 1800-2100 with a check also depending on condition, you can advertise on here after you've made a 100 posts, try some of the online car advertisers i.e autotrader and ebay

try ebay and start with the lowest or near the lowest amount you would take for instance if you wanted £1800 put it on at £1500 to start off regards mick

I feel a bit ripped off now! I know garages sell over the mark but that cost me £3,999 11 months ago. (I say me, he got it and I have paid the finance off).

There was only a cracked headlight from the accident and some scratches on the front which were fixed. The back of the Golf was a mess though.

The mileage is actually only 51,150 - I thought it was 60,000 so I suppost thats a bit better but looks like I'm not going to recover anywhere near what it has cost me to pay off his finance.

Thanks for the advice - I will put it on the suggested site and see if I can get it sold before the insurance runs out.

hey,

I bought a 2002 icelandic grey (same colour as your sons im thinking) vtr about 2 months ago now. i paid £2200 ...... heres the spec.... sunroof, fsh (serviced every 6k miles for the past 4 years) 2 previous owners ( last owner was a female primary school teacher from a catholic school!! she had it 4 years) electric windows, totally standard, decent tires all round 8mm+, 9 months tax and mot, brand new radiator, jvc head unit, toad alarm and immobiliser, 43K miles and hpi checked!!

I payed a very good price for that.......put it up for about £2500 - £2400 - expect to sell for about £2300 - £2200. if you want it gone quick, post it as £2100 no offers.

thats just my opinion, let me know how you get on
