Progress: Track Build: Update Pg3: H&R Coilovers/Caging

ok now there has been a thread started by lea_vtr but i thought i would start a proper progress thread.

Now i am not going to give a spec list as i dont want people to know, they will just have to wait and see. Mates know the plans and im sure they will let on its going to be pretty good.

Now the car has been around the forums and users and some how has taken the name of "burt" now for 1. i dont like that name. 2. my cars are looked after n loved and i dont want to be loving and working on a guy. So... HER new name is ZOE. Yes its had a sex change to show the change that is coming to the car.

Some will call it rat some will call it rough but too me its a track car...End of!

So after i brought it Lea_vtr got a few shots for me.

The plan was too drive the car for a week on the hpi free insurance but the day after i got it the wheel bearings collapsed so it came off he road.

Then after getting the car in the air a few bad pionts had showed up. Alot of the supension was nakered/worn.
Also the fuel regulator wasnt piped correctly and there was no lambda sensor plugged in so was drainig petrol massivly.

That night we were stripping down the front end and got carried away and the engine came out.

So i then decided i wanted a 16v engine so today i went and brought one. Also got a power steering rack to help on track.

Niceeeeeee ! was lookin good before but should be even better still once you've added your touches to it!

Going 16v too should fly some. Especially with it as stripped as it is.

ponse!! drove mine for nearly 2 years without.
means that the clio was slightly scary at first as i was used to throwing it into corners with no pas, although should be goo on the other one :P

quick update.

All the wiring loom came out last night ready for the new loom to go in at some piont. Then when i get the new engine bracket welded we will be good for 16v love.

Also had a slight accident with the windscreen. Alex_vts beeing the fool he is managed to kick it so perfect in the middle it cracked all around. So now no windscreen or heaters so whatever could be going in?

Body Work Update

A bit of an update realy.

too start with i sorted the engine bay out.

As Alex said above, nitromorz is good so i stripped it all back to metal. Took a few coats to clear it back but is much better. I have then Krust'd the whole bay to kill and protect from rust so i have left that to set over night.
Tomorrow i am going to give it a good cover of hammerite too seal everything then will get it painted the colour its going.


Next up is bodywork.

Although the current bodywork has alot of character i couldnt live with it beeing that bad so its getting redone.
So as i had the front end apart i decided to attack the front bumper. Bit restyling whilst we were at it too.

Yes matt black, some will think its stupid but just wait and see. Its different and with the ideas it will look awesome.

So i finaly got the s2 engine bracket welded in over the weekend ready for the engine bay to get painted.

Engine block painting

Ok so decided to clean and paint up me engine block so because of certan ideas it had to match the colour scheme. So....

Then it went greener then i expected and i didnt like it so now the bay is going to be completly dfferent to the rest of the car and this happened to the block!

Another little thin that pissed me off, i found the cage im going to be using dodges the heater motor so i could of kept me heater to clear my windscreen instead buying a heated screen. But o no i have to buy a new one as mines broke!

UPDATE

The suspension setup begins.
Now there has been alot of talking and thinking about what to do with the suspension.

Many thanks to a few people on here for help, espically alexr

So in the end a great offer came up with help from Sam, piggy123 or something on here.

H&R coilovers with bilstein tarmac dampers. Beautiful.

Do need cleaning up so off to get powder coated.

WOOP WOOP

Car came back from getting the cage fitted today.
Its a omp lightwieght weld in. 19KG for the whole lot,happy day.

There will be two addition bars added soon as its been done slightly different to normal.
There will be a harness bar and dash brace added in near future.

Alot of addition welds around aswell to try and get more strength into the shell, better pics will follow.
