Agreed... when I was at Garage-D (drift specialist) at Watford, some cocksucker turned up in his 'mad tyte' Glanza and asked us all if we wanted to 'go racing yeh'. He was told to fuck off by some bloke with a Skyline that made about 5x the amount of power of his car.
That to me always has been and always be the image of a Glanza owner... had one at college too, complete cock who used to race everyone and then wrapped his precious car round a tree.

Racing on the Queen's highway is just not cricket old chap.
Then again, I haz 1.1 lawl. So yeah, maybe I'd think different if I had that car.
Around here it's mainly people in Glanzas and Mitsubishi Colts that are cocksuckers. So we just go after the Colt drivers... easy meat. Those Glanzas are pesky and very quick.

My dad's Octy vRS regularly gets over 35mpg, and my dad's not light on the throttle either. A bit of mapping and they'll dick most small hot-hatches to. Not popular with the young folk because of the badge/size, but for the money its by far the best alround car you can get your hands on. A few Accord Type R's falling under the 3.5k mark these days too, although not turbo obviously.
For the money and if you want to go turbo, I suppose a GT Starlet is a good way to go. Just be careful its not a ragged dog.

Before you get too happy and set on a Glanza, I'd do some quotes, make sure they're done properly though, as lots of people were insuring them as standard non-turbo cars.
Insurance companies are cracking down on this, and think of it like this.. Tiny Car, lots of power, cheap to buy, high insurance is the obvious answer, well unless you fiddle some things but f**k doing that.

Already had quotes of 600 fully comp

Could get that in budget. Styling needs a little sorting out but can't argue with the spec. Little brother to the 200SX,with that SR20DE engine. Must be rapid.

I was following him in my Accord (both of us were going for a burger) and saw him shoot off past traffic like a maniac. Very quick lol.
Its something like a 1992 though, a bit too old for my liking.

Pulsar's are crazy insurance for me. Although speaking to my mate who owns a mental cossie it's the only car that he would contemplate buying at the moment.

Like all old Jap turbo cars you really need to take care with getting looked after versions. If you put your money on a version thats been boosted and raced up and down, you're buying a timebomb. Sometimes its easy to look at the low price and BHP and think yes, but in reality its harder than that.
Best to check out owners clubs, loads of info on what to look for and usually have good examples for sale, whether its a Glanza, Pulsar, Impreza etc.
These cars are like retired boxers, many have had a hard life and can still throw a good right hook, but need constant care and looking after.
Pat- standard 1.3 Turbo is similar performance to VTS, slightly more power (133ish iirc) and easier to tune.
