I've been looking around for different cars rather than just Saxos all the while...
Just wondering what else i could get for my money... I have about 3000 I could spend on a new car.
Want something smart that i can mod only lightly... Luxurious, Reliable, looks good.

Golf/A3/A4 go for the 1.8t with the A4 and the other two I would say go by the insurance in regards to the engine size!

Vauxhall Senator 3.0i 24v CD
Dual Ram system on the engine, masses of toys (if they all work :S ), full leather, proper smoker.
Peugeot 406 Coupé (2.0, 3.0 V6...)
Quick, sexy, looks more expensive than it is, lots of toys, drives nice!
BMW 7-Series (E38 model, the 1994-2002 one...)
Cheap now, sexy as, very much a beefcake cruiser.

Lots, it would appear.

What about an Octavia..? Sounds like a shit idea, but poke around PistonHeads. Also look at the sister car... Seat Toledo... the booted Leon.
I second the BMW notion though... if not the 7-Series :P

I'd go so far with insurance... But i won't pay tons on insurance for a Peugeot V6 etc etc when i could prob insure a Evo or something for the same price. :p

206 GTi 180... lucky sod.
And the 406 2.0 is the group 15er.
What about a 306 XS? The 1.8 16v version? 112bhp, group 5 insurance, you can retrofit the GTi-6 interior, run out models look like the GTi-6 on the outside anyway...

A3's for £3k aren't worth considering unless you can find one with low(ish) mileage. They all seem to have 100k plus.
That Golf that Laura found is a steal I think
