View Full Version : Vibrating Steering Wheel

I've noticed recently that the feedback I get through the steering wheel has changed, its tough to describe but it feels like the wheel is attached to the front wheels with rubber bands! It feels strange when cornering as well. Over the last few days....especially motorway driving, im getting a shitload of vibrating through the steering wheel.
What is causing this? I cant put my finger on what it is. A worn out steering part? A worn Balljoint? Worn driveshafts or wishbones?
Any Ideas what is causing this problem for me? Im going to take it to a garage at the end of this week (it needs fixing before Llandow otherwise I cant go).
Thanks for any advice

I'd go with either ball joints/ warped disc or wheel bearings, your best bet is to have a good look under and check for any play.

mine does it under braking, warped discs i think, i know its not my ball joints bushes or track rods as they were recently replaced.
Either that or it might be becuase my wheels are not balanced correctly, only really noticed it when i swapped my wheels round

Sounds like your wheels need balancing to me,if its worst at high speed like you said on motorways it well could be that.

Also have you had your wheels checked for any slight buckles as this can cause the same problem, especially if you have moved the rear wheels to the fronts!

I have had new tyres fitted recently, but it was happening before that. I might go and get them re-balanced first and see what that does
