If anyone has any ideas as what might be the problem......whilst going up the gears and down actually, say im driving in second gear and put the revs up to 3000/4000rpm then take my foot of the power and let in come down without braking there is a very unhealthy crunching sound. The same thing happens in all gears. Oh its on a 03 plate VTS.

Any ideas appreciated

Cheers. :y:

I'd say it's gearbox related. Can you provide anymore details?

Well we just had a new gearbox and clutch fitted about a month ago.

But apart from that not really, just its happens coming down the gears too.

Maybe i should take it back to the gargae that fitted the gearbox then??

cheers

I would if I were you it does sound like bearings or clutch springs, the only other thing would be the driveshafts but havn't heard a crunching noise before from a driveshaft. Go back to the garage where you had the gearbox fitted and see what they say!

may sound stupid but have you checked exhaust mountings? or clamps

have you checked the driveshaft gaitors? they could of split causing them to leak the grease which could cause this type of problem i must say i have had an experience of this in the past, but you can get the refurb kits for about £4 which includes gaiter circlip and grease which is cheaper than a drive shaft at about £80

Also, check that one of the gearbox bolts has not come loose. They can do after its been replaced and this can cause it to slip out of line and crunch and make a fair bit of noise.
Hope that helps.
