i have decided to spray my roof my self! lol
not decided on what color was thinking black...
or diablo red to suit the rest of the car and then get a chequered vinyl?!
is this the right order in which to do thing...
1. sand the roof down to the metal
2. mask up around the area i want to spray
3. couple of layers of primer
4. let it dry
5. spary color
is that right? it sounds to easy!!

Id say use a fine sand paper probz not down to the metal, then clean away the dust and wash down with a evaporative cleaner like brake cleaner or similar mask off nd primer away. sane between each layer to get a better finish, few coats of primer nd few coats of paint nd a final few coats of laquer. patience is the key to the best paint jobs :)

Wouldnt say you need to sand it down to metal but heres a quick un for you..
1. Sand/key the roof to get the paint to stick
2. Solvent wipe the roof after to ensure there is no dust etc on it
3. Prime the roof
4. Wet and dry the roof to ensure a smooth finish.
5. Paint and if needs be wet and dry again
6. Laquer...
Not comprehensive by any means but you get the idea

1. Sand down with 400 Grade sand paper (p400). If your not spraying black maybe P240 first then P400.
2. Use a panel wipe/de greaser to remove dust ext.
3. Mask up area ext.
4. Few coats of primer let them dry.
5. Rub down primer lightly with P600/P1000 Wet&Dry.
6. Use a panel wipe/de greaser to remove dust ext.
7. Few coats of paint leave to dry well.
8. Few coats of laquour leave to dry.
Hope this helps.

when the paint/laqour/primer is wet, yeah if its dry shouldnt matter as long as you dry it off befor you start work again.

no need to use anything that abbrasive (240) use a 1200 grade w/d
just make sure you do all roof
no need to reprime unless you need to remove deep imperfections
then only spot prime the area affected
quick flat when dry
use a panel wipe to remove grease etc
use a tac cloth to get any dust etc
then paint away
(dont do it with cans though too big an area)
