View Full Version : Whats going wrong? coil pack?

Jumped in my car yesterday, was alrite at first but after moving on from the lights i was losing loads of power, putting the foot to the floor trying to climb a hill and i was lucky to be reaching 30 mph! pulled over and my exhaust is shaking like a motherf*cker all the way through!

Should be running like 00000000000000
now its like 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 with exhaust shaking

1 friend suggests new spark plugs and leads and another friend suggests coil pack, any ideas people?

Any other symptoms mate, low revs, smell of fuel etc

Yeah bud low revs, im plantin the foot down and nothings happening, not sure bout smell of fuel tho mate have to check later but never noticed

Got a similar thig with my sons car at the moment, definate smell of petrol, feels like it is only running on 3 cylinders, but the annoying thing is it doesnt happen all the time

My mate had a simular thing in his VTS.

Tried my coilpack on the car and it stayed the same.

Put new spark plugs in it and problem solved.

The heads had come off the Spark Plugs.

Is it running on 3 cylinders mate, if so coil pack and spark plugs would be the first things to check imo

My car did this the other except I had a smell of rotten eggs(cat I think)but once warmed up was fine garage checked it suggestion bit of dirt in the fuel/injectors not missed a beat since.

Just change the spark plugs as its the cheapest option to start with.

Don't you know anyone else with the same car to try their coilpack if not?

Yeah gona try changin plugs, should i change leads aswell? my m8s gota mk1 vts so am i right in saying i cant use his coil pack?

I'd just change the plugs for now personally and see if that does it.

If not try your mates coilpack, pretty sure it fits.

have exactly the same problem with mine too. gonna give it a good service nex week and see how that goes. does your car judder occasionally too

Yeah getting a judder m8 and also noticed i can smell fuel, started up today and its not anywhere near as bad as last night, got the spark plugs anyway puttin them in after tea fingers crossed

cool. exactly the same prob has mine. smells like its burnin a little rich too. let me know if the spark plugs improve anythin?

Right lads just to let ya know the spark plugs worked a treat :y: anyone with same probs shud try it

alls good for now anyway haha i mean it is a citroen after all, ah well happy days til something else goes wrong
