View Full Version : Cracking noise when brakeing

Hello all,

Need some help, I've noticed recently when I brake lightly theres a cracking noise coming from somewhere, it doesnt do it all the time and the brakes dont feel any different, just wondering if anyone has any ideas of what it could be ? It coming from the drivers side..

Its on a 51plate vtr.

Could be shite on the disc/brake pads.... normally getting a rubbing or squeeking sound to be fair........
Have you had a look at both sides to see if there is any difference

It had new discs and pads all round about 6 weeks ago so they are fine from what I can see.
I've had a good luck round but cant see anything out of the ordinary

check all the bolts to make sure none are loose it might sound silly but my gf's dad took his car for a full service and the wheel nuts i unscrewed with my fingers..
its always worth checking

Probably creaking, may not have been greased up correctly. Weve got a little 205 at work and the brakes have creaked for years.

My car dose that too sometimes, i've found out its the front left break calliper seizig up. Basically had it. So i'll need a new one.
