HELP! Lifters/Tappets issue 1.4 saxo (manual lifters)

Hi guys and girls wondering if some1 can help? Ive got a 1.4 saxo so manual lifters/tappets unlike the vtr/s theyve been getting progresivly louder for a couple of weeks so i did a full engine flush and oil change to no avail and there still noisy i have been to a couple of garages who say they will adjust them but a third garage told me that will make no difference and to take the rocker cover off and have a look for myself which is no probs im not a stranger to an engine bay, has anyone else had this problem or has anyone got any tips for quieting them down?

he said change the oil, but his mate said they should adjust automatically?!

i have a vtr and the tappets need manual adjustment, and it was very easy made the care run very smooth and quiet
