Hi,

I've searched all over for the answer to this but I can't find a definitive one anywhere, perhaps someone on here could help me?

I have a VTR that was first registered in November 2000, does anyone know if this is the 90BHP or the 98BHP version? Sorry if this is an obvious question, but the reason I ask, is i thought it was the 90 version, but when I've come to buying a new manifold, it seems as though the VTR's after September 2000 are the 98 BHP version, anyone know for definite which it will be?

Big thanks in advance,

Jack

Ideal, thanks for clarifying this for me, just on the other point i made, am i right in saying that after September 2000 the engines are 98, and before are 90?

how? from someone saying its a 2000 mk2 you cant be 100% sure. there is mk1's kicking about with silver top engines.

^ its all in there mate, easiest way to check is to remove ecu cover, but also oil dip stick in different place, air intake is different also.

Also look at your manifold, does the downpipe have a cat in it? or just a pipe?

How much was your tax for a year / half a year i can tell you off that also. If registered before feb 2001 tax is more expensive ;)

cars registered after Feb 2001 there isnt meant to be any 90bhp engines at all in the mk2's. Al happily let someone prove me wrong, but i have yet to see a 90bhp engine in a vtr registered after feb 2001

I have a book called "Technical Data" at work.... also tells you engine codes, bhp, etc etc weight.

And that is a 98bhp

good for you :y:

But from someone creating a thread saying my car is 2000 reg your saying its a 98bhp? mine was registered late 2000 had a 90bhp.

Unless i am missing something here and you actually know this car in person?

Im going by what a realiable book tells me.

Whats your engine code? Can tell you from that

if its a single plug ecu and the cat is under the car its the 90bhp model, if the cat is on the downpipe and its got a 3plug ecu then its the 98bhp model

your books clearly wrong then....... :homme:

sorry jimo but it simply is.

Best thing he can do is take a picture of his engine bay. Al tell you 100% what it is.

Another way but not guarenteed is to tell is what style interior you have as the 98bhp 9/10 have the shitty black interior with coloured squares on it.
And tend not to have a plastic gearknob.

90bhp also had the black dash, not seen one as standard with that silvery/gold centre console, also get the old style window washer jets where as teh 98bhps seemed to have the mist ones.
