i have been offered a completely standard 106 gti on a 98 plate which looks in mint condition, the only problem is its done 130,000 miles with part services history. the pictures he has sent me look excellent and looks like its done half that (even the half leather gti interior looks new) do you think it would be worth going to have a look at or is a no go area with that many miles on it?

Mileage is not then impostant if the engne/car has been taken care of

If it has been well cared for then I cant see it being a problem, make sure it drives okay & check whats been changed etc in the service history - if anything big is gonna need doing shortly - alter the price accordingly..

how much is he asking? it may be a bargin
do you do any of the mechanics on your car yourself?
as things are more likely to go wrong than on a newer car. its not going to be worth it if you have to pay expensive garage bills.

Id say about £4-500 your way depending on the condition/mileage of your 24

key phrase you used is 'part service history'. on a car with 130k on it i'd stay clear

id still take it if it was good money, any engine probems you could pick up a tu5jp4 (206 xsi) engine for a few hundred quid with very low miles (20-30k) then you have a bargain car.
