i am looking to buy one shortly but it would have to be the older shape. i've found one which i want and its about £2500 so not to bad.
its a 1.6, insurance group 9, so a bit high for my age, but i suppose what i spend on extra insurance, is what i would spend on fixing a crap car.
im just wondering if anyone has owned one, or knows someone that is/has could give me any advice, how costly to run, maintain so the usual bits and bobs??
i've looked at golf's and focus's, but they just seem to bore me a bit
this is an example;

My mate has just got one a few weeks ago!
Its a W reg and he payed £2900...Its done 222,000 miles! And its a 1.6 sport!
There a nice big comfy car, Not my cup of tea im more into hot hatch type cars! But it is a nice car and a nice smooth ride, He has had a few warning lights up but nothing major! His tax is alot though have you looked at that? Also parts to replace are expensive i hear? Nice cars though! If you get it get it blacked out and go stealth! With some big black deep dish alloys!
Hope that helps if you have anythin you want me to ask my mate, tell me and i will!

I thought the same! Mk4 golfs are practically A3's anyways they are abit like saxo/106's so I would still bear them in mind! I brought my golf for £2500 with 55,000 on the clock to give you an idea.

im after one of these, heard mixed views on them but just think they really nice and more exciting then golfs and that, mileage is always pretty high on them for round the 2.5k

yeah the millage on audi a3's for around £2500 is quite high, but they are sturdy cars so should be ok!,
my mate has a 306 diesel and its almsot hit 250,000 miles, and it looks almsot new!
welshyUk have you got any pics of your golf?

I'm in the middle of getting the wheels refurbed and interior re-trimmed in black and silver so at the moment it's in the garage having the work done. I'll get them up as soon as!!
Edit: I have now updated my profile with a pic when I picked it up!
