ok the story behind the brakes...

the illegal substance ispestos (spelling..the stuff used on roofs ages ago)
well this was used in the brake bads which results in the brakes not sqeeking! now the UK government has amde this stuff illegal and in turn all brake pads couldn't have it in them!

so now brake pads dont come with it and instead have bits of copper in them to help reduce noise but it doesn't work as well!

so there is nothing much you can do to permanently fix it

So does everyone get the same noise then from new pads and discs?smileys/smiley5.gif smileys/smiley5.gif

not neccessarily...but my car had new brake pads and after a month or 2 they started to sqeek....same as my mates car who had new brake pads, etc...

the new brake pads seem to give off more dust and it builds up alot more

the brakes need taken apart...the brake pads need cleaned, discs on both sides, etc...a power wash won't reach these areas properly

take your wheels off remove pads and clean up with brake cleaner... put abit of copper slip behind the pad(not the braking material side)!!! this should cure it!!!

If you by pattern part pads they are shockingly bad buy green stuff or simular smileys/smiley4.gif

so the noise is coming from the rears then....

haven't done the rear pads and disc's on my vts yet....

but if the piston in the caliper is on a thread you gonna need a piston retracting tool... you can use alternatives but i haven't looked yet to see what you could use...

some you can use a alan key, or torque fitting or a tool with with two teeth(if you like) to wined it in....

sorry not too much help but someone on here must have done a set.... coz i'm off work at the mo i can't really do anything on my car, can't use my right hand!!! so i couldn't just take them out to look for ya!!!

this is the first time i had a saxo and even worked on one

pastieman

lol you should have a idea!!! open your windows and turn your music down!!! lol

Do the fronts first mate as you know the setup there pads in and out easy!!!

but get some better information on rears...

as soon as i go back to work i'll have a ganders!!! i might even replace them anyways as the front need doing!!
