View Full Version : Thinking about selling the saxo???

A friend of mine is selling a really nice Honda Accord that I am considering buying but would have to sell the VTR. How much do you think i'd get for it?

It's a 1998 S VTR (59k miles) with a full system Piper stainless steel exhaust (1 year old), 16" wheels, lowered 40mm on PI springs - all work undertaken at R-Tec.

I'd be after top money as the car has been very well looked after.

I thought about mayne changing the alloy wheels as that would look better (no kerb marks!) and also new tyres, both these things making the car easier to sell.

It has just passed the MOT and I will be putting a full years tax on it soon.

The bodywork is not mint but for an eight year old car I don't think you'd find much better - it really is exceptional!

Bearing all this in mind and the fact that i'll throw in a full Autoglym valeting pack and a new set of mats what would you lot pay for it if you were to buy?

I'd really appreciate your opinions.

This is the car i'm interested in. A Honda Accord 1.8 SE V-TEC with a full factory bodykit. A small drop on 17's or 18's would look fantastic and the insurance is the same as the Saxo!

Your crazy Chris mate!

That is worth 2,5k as it stands all day long.

But we'll agree to disagree.

What is worth £2500?? If you mean my Saxo, it's worth more than that, plus it doesn't stand there all day long, I take it out for a spin every now and then and I have been keeping it clean it has full service history... there is no way an S reg VTR is worth as much as an Xreg VTR. You will be lucky to get much over £3000 for an S reg VTR.... if you do then fair play. Have a look in the Parker's and in Autotrader etc to get an idea of how much your will go for!

These threads get deleted on SSC because they cause arguments and now I can see why... people don't like being told that their car isn't worth as much as they think it is.

cheers, i think they look really good. why dont yo keep the saxo and get a vts lump?

AL1900
3rd August 2005, 21:43
Chris - not arguin mate just sayin. I mean my car is worth 2,5k without new tyres or tax at least. If I put new ones on and years tax that'll cost me 500 so would want minimum 3k.

We sweet matey?smileys/smiley16.gif

joey_ivy - would cost too much to change the engine. Never see the point. Might as well sell it and buy a VTS and make it look the same, that would be easier.
Anyway i'm not after anything quicker at the moment - just with more boot space for all my car cleaning gear.

The second hand car market is indeed a crazy world.

A guy I know just paid 3k for an R-reg Ford Ka!!!! I nearly cried when he told me.

Just because you are spending a further £500 on it, doesnt mean people are going to pay an extra £500.

If you are that concerned I say advertise it as £3000 but be prepared to drop the price.

AL1900
3rd August 2005, 21:59
That's what i'm saying.

I won't be selling it for that though smileys/happy.gif

Too good to sell, the paintwork is better than alot of year old cars i know.

Unless I can get the Honda for a little over 3k I won't sell the Saxo at this time.

Thanks for all your opinions.
