need to know this asap really. how do you lock an excel document so that only you can edit it?

have you got the review toolbar ? if so select protect sheet the set a password i think been ages since i been on excel just checked thats how you do it then when you want to edit you do the same and enter password

I don't think you can have Excel documents as a "read-only" but openable by other people, without having it password protected.

yea you can the way i described is read only unless you know the password

in that case it's Tools, Protect and Share, but other users can still edit it and it will show the changes. Not what he wants.


EDIT - found it, Tool, Protection, Protect Sheet, press F1 for help!

i just had a go to test once you protect it , i went back and tryed to type something it wouldnt let me with out pass word
