Thought it was about time I said hello and made a progress thread. Decided to buy a saxo after I flipped my punto and wrote it off:

Searched high and low for a well looked after (not ragged) one. Found mine for £2300, 03 plate with only 35k on the clock. The car was in pretty good condition and the price was great. Only niggle was a leak in the roof. Luckily (I hope) it was only the ariel (ariel was totally missing) and was sealed up in no time.

Totally standard:

Replaced the non-existant ariel with a 206 gti one for a fiver from my local peugot and since two of the mudflaps were missing ordered some new ones from ebay. Still not too sure about them. Look great from most angles but from some the back ones look a bit out of place:

Some smoked side repeaters followed and also some red citroen sport badges to replace the standard vtr ones and I have a red rocker cover badge to fit when I paint my rocker cover:

Also got a standard grille from ebay for a tenner and meshed it:

Just had a full service and gearbox oil changed today. Citroen quoted £280 but I managed to find a good local garage to do it for £120. Very pleased with the service and the guy who was a VW and Audi specialist seemed to know a lot about saxos/106's and it seems to be running extremely well.

Future plans are:

dewipering
smoked headlights and fogs
red painted calipers
anthracite vts wheels
colour code interior
lower 50ish all around
upper/lower strut braces
leather interior
good clean

Cheaper mods coming soon and the more expensive (lowering, strut braces) next summer when the insurance allows.

Planning on cleaning my engine bay soon as its covered in a thick layer of dirt:

Anyone got any tips on what bits exactly to cover when I hose it? So far only seeing the ecu and alternator and some exposed electrical wire. Anywhere else?

Thats about it. Loving my saxo so far. Its an extremely fun car to drive.

Coilpack, Battery, ECU, Alternator.

You'd be better using a steam cleaner on the engine bay, then some engine degreaser, back to black, etc.

Looks very nice :y:

Cheers guys. Going to keep it subtle and clean. Cleaned the interior today, previous owner must have had at least 10 dogs. Will get some pics up in the morning. Going to tackle the engine bay tomorrow too.

Ordered some new plates from craigsplates.co.uk. Just plain standard ones. My front one has big cracks around the screws. Also thinking about getting some xenon bulbs for my headlights/fogs. Would I need them realigned if I replaced them?

Here are some interior shots and some shots of my new head unit. Just a cheap JVC job but has a USB connection for my flash drive which is awesome. Only thing about it is it doesnt keep the settings for bass treble etc, but it keeps the radio stations fine.

Interior cleaned:

Headunit:

Also t-cut/sanded my badges to black:

And finally got round to cleaning my engine bay. Got an ecu cover and a new headshield off ebay. What a difference. Rep to Paul for telling me which bits to cover!

Here's my favorite engine shot:

Hopefully if the weather holds up tomorrow will give it a wash/polish/wax just in time for the winter.

Maybe sort the battery tray and holder out with some anti-rust and black paint or something?
