Canon 400D, 450D, 1000D
Or go for an older model 10D, 30D
Not to sure on Nikons as i have a Canon. But remember its not all about the camera its the lenses aswell mate! Canon have some great lenses out there! You need some good glass for good pictures!
Read the sticky some good stuff in there im sure!

not really set a budget but I wouldn't want to spend more than £300.

thats not much tbh, have a rummage on ebay for the older stuff like canons 300D, 350D, 400D etc. youll only get a stubby kit lens with that tho.

go second hand on the camera. Something like a 10D. Can't recommend one highly enough especially at the 2nd prices these days. Then get the most expensive lens you can afford. It's all about the lens. Then look into getting as many flashes as possible

alright there should be an or in there before the 400.
like ads id recommend a 2nd hand prosumer model like a 10 or 20D. saves upgrading quicker later on.

I'd go for the Sony A102(I THINK that's the name, will confirm when I get home). More features, easier to use and same price :y:
