sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 17:58
ye when it gets to 100+ its shakes like mad....vibrating wheel etc..but still its gone over the 110 unless my speedo is wrong?? but y is it still faster than a 1.4??

Graeme
8th August 2005, 17:59

welshy2k
8th August 2005, 17:59

Chris
8th August 2005, 18:00

8th August 2005, 18:02
hehe well it has.
i dunno y tho i thought a 1.4 would be faster.
to be honest tho i had a 1.4 fiesta b4 my 1.1 saxo and the saxo is faster than that was and its faster than the 106 i had. i dunno y tho my m8 should sell it and get a 1.1 lol hehehe maybe not.....smileys/smiley17.gif

pug_boe
8th August 2005, 18:03
lol cheaper insurance for him lol, a lot of people have said mine is nippy for a small engine and they always say are you sure its a 1.1 lol (im shit at cars yes but i am sure it is lol 1.1sxi)

sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 18:04
so if u can get 108 out of a 1.0 then 115 is makable in a 1.1 so my speedo aint wrong its just going way over the 110 lol i need a 140 speedo with a rev counter!!!! i need one of those big tym!!!!

DevilDamo
8th August 2005, 18:05

i think id be too scared to try 115 in my car at mo, id prob end up coming to a halt siting on my chair with my steering wheel in my hand and the rest of my car 2 miles up the rd falen apart lol

welshy2k
8th August 2005, 18:09

sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 18:09

starkie
8th August 2005, 18:11
your mate cant drive then lol.. theres is only 10bhp init.. and i suppose it would be down to the driver..

if he redlined it everytime i would understand you need 2 change at desired which is 5500 or round abouts that

pug_boe
8th August 2005, 18:11

welshy2k
8th August 2005, 18:11
if u keep running ur 1.1 at those speeds all the time but you wont have it for long

pug_boe
8th August 2005, 18:12
i stick to like 80 at the most now because of the expense if had lol

FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE POLICE

all these confirmed speeds have been tried and tested on PRIVATE roads!

come on people. its not big. its not clever. if you are interested in top speeds and performance figures, then refer to the saxo technical specification brochure. to be honest, they are not that far out.

Muppet! LOL smileys/smiley4.gif

The 1.0L is only supposed to be able to do 95mph and I got 107mph......... the VTR is only suppose to be able to do about 120mph (I can't remember exact figure), but I managed to get 127mph out of mine, so they aren't that accurate!

Chris smileys/happy.gif

pug_boe
8th August 2005, 18:26

sc077_martin

in the vts, the brochure says 127mph and to this date i have reached 125mph and that is driving fairly comfortably.

that was on my private test track at my house smileys/smiley14.gif

1.1's have a closer ratio gearbox, so although they have less power, it is 'easier' for them to get to higher rpm's in the higher gears? (probably? smileys/smiley9.gif )

The 1.4 will be quicker top end, but might find it harder to raise to the higher rpm to get the last out of it.

Cant be assed doing the calcs though smileys/smiley17.gif

pug_boe
8th August 2005, 18:33
leeds is quite far from cardiff so unless im in leeds for some reason nah lol although when iv finished my degree down here i might be going to leeds uni to do an MSC so you never know i could be there in 2 yrs lol

sc077_martin

when you say faster, what do you exactly mean?

faster 0-60 or faster overall?

have a think about the power to weight ratio's as well mate and that might make things a little clearer.

sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 18:36
well my 1.1 is faster 0-60 than my m8s golf 2.0 05reg an all. lol

welshy2k
8th August 2005, 18:36
im sure this topic about gearbox ratio's has been covered somewhere else.....saying a 1.1 gear box ratio and a VTs ratio are similar and equally different to the 1.4 an VTR models smileys/smiley14.gif

pug_boe
8th August 2005, 18:37
my car aint there for speed really its there for comfort and to get me from A-B (sometimes to B on a tow truck but its allll good lol)

sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 18:38
did i mention his was a diesel tho....smileys/smiley17.gif
non turbo!!

so ur saying that a 1.1 has the same gearbox as a vts?
wow so if i get a conversion then all id need was the engine??
id fit that myself like bin a top notch mechanic lol smileys/smiley17.gif
ive learnd alot in 3yrs!!!

smileys/smiley17.gif

welshy2k
8th August 2005, 18:39
i didnt say it was the same i said the ratio's are similar smileys/smiley17.gif but closer related than the other saxo models

sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 18:41
but it can be done using the same gearbox??

welshy2k
8th August 2005, 18:44
ask simo if i said yes i would be telling fibs buddy

sc077_martin
8th August 2005, 18:48
