i got my vtr on a couple of weeks ago and i am over the moon with it
the main thing i need to sort immediatly is the brakes......they are really screechy and feel like they slip when i apply them firmly!!!
do i neeed new calipers or just the pads?
People have told me either the 206 Gti or Berlingo brakes are a good option, with my price range at no more than £120

ok well i got this a couple of weeks ago now but havent had the chance to post it up along with some pictures
it has 70k on it and is the 1999 model but has slight problem at the moment which is a knocking noise around the front passenger side of the car whenever i turn at slow speeds but i suspect for this to be a worn top mount because i have already changed the ball joint,
it has no grille at the moment but it will be going on early this week along with a standard gold petrol cap that btw i cant get anywhere if anyones got one going ;)
i plan to refurb the R wheels along with get them sprayed anthracite or something like that anyway, along with either tinting the lights myself or purchasing a set
also can people tell me how they sprayed there citroen chevrons, do they come off the grille?
cheers, enjoy

What do people think if i had a white and gold theme going, with the R alloys sprayed white along with maybe the rear "saxo" and "citroen"
Just an idea and thought it would be different because most gold saxos on here have the gold and anthracite theme

cheers for the suggestion but i don't really know if i actually like rear smoked jewels to be totally honest, if i was going to change the rear lights then i would stick mk1 standards on there or just smoke my own
but atm not my biggest priority as i have got to change the bearing just below the top mount as i have a knocking noise when i turn at slow speeds that i have tried to sort by replacing the top mount, and the ball joint..... proper fudging me off :wall:

Cleaned the sax today and thought i would take a few pictures because it was looking very sexy!
I washed over the car with a hose and then used turtle wax and shine to go over it
I then dried it with a microfibre cloth and polished it up with meyr (I think thats how you spell it)
I then used back to black on all the trim
In the interior i used turtle wax apholstery spray cleaner on the seats and caprets and then used house polish on the dash, which turned out great :y:
I then finished it off with a nice forest fresh magic tree, beautiful :A:

i've done a few updates since i last posted which i thought may interest you with the big one being spraying my wheels pug cossack grey.
I wanted a fairly quick job done and i was prepared to spend alot of my time on them in order to get it done quick... the steps i took was to prepare the wheel first off by rubbing the alloy down with high grit sand paper to get of the corrosion that had occurred on 3 out of 4 wheels i sprayed. After this i made sure all of it was smoothed out including doing wet and dry on the alloy, cleaned it off and then dried it with a towl. We then masked off the tire with newspaper and made sure none of it was showing. we checked to see if there was any dust and continued to wipe it off. We applied 2 coats of primer and waited for a couple of hours before we rubbed it down prior to applying 2 coats of pug cossack grey spray paint. we then waited for around 2 hours until lacquering the alloy twice around.
i did this for each wheel and overall i am happy with the results and i think it goes really well with the car :y:
I also resprayed my wiper arms black as some of the original paint had worn off as well as spraying my citreon chevrons the same colour as i sprayed the wheels
I will post some pictures up after the weekend of the wheels and the whole car when it is washed and polished up because you have to wait a week for the lacquer to harden properly before you can use any cleaning products on the wheels.
hurry up with the pics you penix..
I want to see my handiwork ;)

Right. . . This is first update in ages because I was living at University of East London and wern't insured on the car, but now I'm living at home so Ive got the car back
I have done quite alot since my last post including;
-Sprayed my R wheels cossack grey
-Fitted new falken tyres which I got from www.camskill.co.uk for £180 which I thought was a good price including postage
-Changing cambelt and offside driveshaft done by french specialist KrisB - highly recommend.
-Bought new pressed plates and fitted
http://i458.photobucket.com/albums/qq304/ingram690_123/P1000827.jpg
-Bought some aero wiper blades
-I then thought I might aswell see if Ferg's selling his old exhaust and he was so I purchased this and fitted it saturday, cheers pal. This exhaust decatted my car and sounds LUSH may I add, I was straight down dartford tunnel :y:
-I also have re-sprayed the black bump strips all round the car because some of them were starting to fade
-This week I will be purchasing new droplinks and some track rod ends
-New dampers are going onto the car soon as well as the current standard ones were down 80mm and i had to use the same ones after I raised it to 40mm on the back. they creak and are pretty f***ed up imo

The VTR has recently passed its MOT with one advisory; slight movement in offside strut, which I was personally happy with. Anyone got any ideas of how to sort this as it causes the car to knock on occasions, really annoying as had this noise since i purchased the car, and have changed almost everything that it could be including; top mount bearing, driveshaft, ball joint, droplinks and track rod ends (getting purchased this week), just hope that sorts it otherwise I have one other option that I could have faulty spring on the strut... need ideas asap.
If look at the pictures you can see my bonnet looks like its bent, well the previous owner obviously wern't that educated because instead of sorting out a simple bonnet catch problem, they decided to try and use shere strength to try and rip it up, causing the front to bend slightly. I am going to try and bend it back before i resort to buying a new bonnet, never know might actually work

Big fan of gold saxo's but not a fan of the wheels, they just look like very dirty standards imo. Like the new exhaust though, old one was far too big!
They are dirty, no point proper making an effort until the whether gets better

Gave the car right detailing today, just makes me and hopefully bending the bonnet back to normal. Love the car when its clean, pictures will be up tommorrow because the colour has proper come out. Also stripped the back so I could properly clean it up. Going to keep my sub out as I'm tired of it now!
Fitting my new droplinks tommorrow with baker556 so will post up progress and pictures in next post

Right I cleaned it, the process was a hose down, Autoglym body shampoo and conditioner, dry with a leather chamois, Autoglym super resin polish which really brought out the colour, and used some average wax on just to keep away the rain, finished with a splash of back to black, few pictures of the car with the bonnet partially fixed and clean
Also fitted new droplinks so a few in there, in the process there was a seriously rounded bolt - hello angle grinder which was fun!
Also refitted my nearside cv boot with jubilee clip because the metal clip had broke off

Looking Good, but your stealing my name :P :P
With the drop links did you try a crowbar or prybar behind the droplink with the Impact wrench? that works a trick for me when doing them. :y:

Nah not acting downwards i mean actually getting the crowbar behind the actual ball on the top mount, but yes some you have to grind.

You forgot the password.
When doing inlets, just make sure you don't have any air leaks or it wont run right. Think there's something you have to do with the throttle cable but don't quote me on that...

Yer you have to replace the saxo one with a throttle cable from a 106, but Im buying one thats already been adapted to fit a VTR, so everything should be okay

When its all together it sits at 40mm

If it's just shocks alone they sell:
B4's
B8's
Group N's
Did you get em from Kam? If so then B4's...

The knocking has dissppeared, wheyyyy! A year try to get rid has finally paid off, the front shocks that were on my car were made by "Lip" or something and it turned out that these were at fault, fitted new g-max springs at the same time of fitting the shocks and dampers
But now I have another one.......... Pictures to come of rallye inlet in the engine bay coming up
