car wont start (starter motor)

hello car wont start due to the starter motor i think. where abouts is it at on the engine, its a 1998 r plate VTS and would a N reg 1.5 diesel AX fit it?

your starter motor is on the back of the engine you sould be able to see it i think there are 3 bolts that screw the starter to the gearbox.

does the car attempt to start up? I had this problem. it could be the crank sensor £10 from a scrappy:y:

it makes a horible noise some times and some times it just makes a click noise??

Sounds like starter motor to me pal, Does it turn the engine over or not?

nar tires to but just clicks most of time and then now and agen when it does try it just makes a horible noise. would a 1.5D ax one fit?

Yep starter motor the horrible noise you can hear is the Bendix.

Your best off taking it off & exchanging it for a re-conditioned 1 mate.

my car did this exact same thing, horrible noise and jusat clicked like the sound of a relay,
turned out the battery was f****d changed it over and it all worked, but if its the starter, i had a price for my mk1 vts and it was £112 from a motorfactor,
best off getting a recon starter tbh mate

tip but it into first gear, dont start it, release the handbrake and rock it backwards and forwards this sometime stops it from clicking and sticking
