sounds right tbh.
VTS combined only gets 32mpg
Full tank for a VTS is roughly £48 and i get just under 300 mile in mine.
Do the math ;)
Your getting roughly 30mpg which is nothing to complain about in a VTS

Loads of threads the same as this, also take a look at sayers fuel saving guide.

This is in rush hour traffic as well.
No point sitting in the outside lane belting it at 70 to sit in more traffic
Tootle in the inside lane and chill.

At the end of the day it's not the car, it's the driver.

To be honest, I always stick at 60 - 65mph on the motorway to save fuel nowadays.

I averaged 63mpg I think coming back from Trax, thats because I drove at 70 all way back.
Shows by putting foot down it wastes fuel.

70mph, drop it in 6 and I guarantee you'll be doing 1200 - 1400rpm?
That way use hardly any fuel - Dad does it regularly on the Mondeo and gets 70+ mpg.
David

I'll try it on the way back to Sheffield tomorrow!
Luke
2nd October 2008, 11:05
If you do that, you shouldn't use much fuel as you are sitting out of the Turbo.
Problem I have with mine, I reckon it would take a 6th gear no problems as sitting at 70mph I'm doing 2k.

it's a more modern engine... and I bet you if you stuck yours at 50mph on the motorway you'd be nearer 80mpg.
