im supposed 2 be getting a private plate for my birthday..
i just want to kno.. those of you who have them.. does it effect you insurance..?

Yes, you need to tell them your new reg number. But thats all, it wont effect anything else.

It doesn't effect the premium... but they do tend to charge you. Charged me £15 to change all the documents, insurance certificate etc. And sent them out.

They won't charge more, due to people can't nick them and use them, they are with your car, and therefore can't be used on other cars without your permission.
