Its the lambda sensor mate, which in that case sounds like it may be a 3 plug ECU.........
Just bung it up failing that mate

you mean egr valve not lambda sensor im sure, fossie the lambda doesnt sit on top of the manifold ;)

easy way is if you remove it all, then have a look where it attaches to the side of the block, theres the metal plate, two bolts go in and then a hole for the pipe to come out, you will noticed its ridged, cheap way but still perfectly fine doing it is whack some silicone in the ridge bit and then stick a penny in and bolt it back on the block, making sure its facing so that they penny cant come back out

also im not 100% sure but can you fit a 3 plug to an originally 1 plug? i heard that some of the interior looms are different

i thought it at first, read it again and seen he said on top, do gti/mk1 vts just have the one lambda sensor? always thought that they had 2.

but then the phase 2 vts has the egr type valve, where as the others dont, still unsure if it will match the interior loom though

2001> gti/vts have 2 lamaba sensors and a egr valve to bring them inline with 2001 emissions rule
