I was looking to get a VTS when I was 18. But, insurance was a killer as i was already paying 3k+ for a VTR..

VTS is double the insurance group so.. I waited until i was 19

I know there are a few people on this site that have a VTS for their first car/being 17-18.. on their daddys insurance.

I remember wanting a VTR for my first car.. looking back.. I shouldn't have.

The insruance.. petrol.. tax.. was just a killer, not to mention my lack of driving experience.

If you're reading this.. and you're 18.. and want a VTS.. just save your pennies and get a furio.. or something similiar

Pat_Vts
4th October 2008, 18:52
lol tbh i think a VTS is a very good car at 18 if you can afford the insurance etc

just wondering how many members are really 18 + own VTS right now

Mattt-VTR
4th October 2008, 18:52
Agree with berg, i'm 18 and got a VTR and the insurance is a killer as it is, and i was getting silly quotes for a VTS, so stuck with the VTR and i am happy enough.

£150ish off insurance as a guess?

few £££ cheaper on tax

thats about it? same to maintain as a VTR?

Ooooo, yeah i will agree with that, although i haven't owned both so i couldn't honestly say, but a mate of mine has a furio and he fills up around the same.

serious mate, the difference is enormous... tax is pretty different i would say 100quid ish a year difference, as for the petrol consumption i do agree. But insurance quotes are worlds apart. vts = 14 vtr = 7

i pay 1400 quid tpft on my vtr for a vts i was looking around 3 grandish atleast and thats for the few insurance companies that would aqccept me....

i would love a vts but screw paying stupid insurance premiums

I'll stick with my VTR tbh... no way can I justify paying £300+ road tax on a car which isn't a world apart from what I already have.

Ohh thats what you think.

Keeps up with an S quite well actually.

Plus having leather seats, air-con, automatic wipers and other little features make it a much nicer car to drive.
