Logitech G25 wheel + Live for Speed.
dunno if you've played it but it basically simulates real life racing down to the very last detail.
fuel usage, tyre wear, you can even burn out the clutch if you dont use it properly lol lots of different classes of cars, you can race, drift, drag strip, the lot.
better playing it with G25 wheel tho so you can use heel-toe techniques n shaaaaaaat

LOL you paid £1500 for that pc???????????????
I could build that for about £600.
Ram is pritty shocking and so is the integrated sound :(
Anywho.... i cant get Race07 to work on my beast, id reccommend TOCA GRID.
My pc:
AMD Phenom Quad core @ 2.7ghz
6GB of DDR800 Corsair RAM
9800GTX+ Graphics card
500GB seagate Hard drive
Creative Xtremegamer sound card
The CPU, RAM and Graphics card only cost me about £290!

Karl
6th October 2008, 12:59
really?
would of thought the RAM would make a huge difference?
Just in the game I play (Unreal tournament engine) I get like 7 FPS in 100v100 fights.
DarylVTR
6th October 2008, 13:06
The ram is quicker in terms of speed but going from 667mhz to 1066mhz i doubt ull see a MASSIVE / much improvement. By the looks of it your 9600GT is bottle necking your system.
Also i dont think the 260 is that great for the cash. I got a 9800GTX+ 512mb for £128, runs just perfect.
Ive got AMD quad core (equivilient of intel quad) , 6GB of DDR2 800mhz and 320gb seagate barracuda, no problems atall.
8GB of 677mhz is a bit overkill mate lol 6GB is even stupid but it was cheap thats why i got 6gb instead of 4.

Nvidia drivers are still a million times better. I recently upgraded from an 8800GTS 640mb to a 4870.
50% of the time i turn my PC and am greeted by an end task box for ati catalyst drivers that have crashed on startup!

Not everybody is a full on geek and wants to build PC's from scratch..If £1500 is such a rip off nobody would buy them..
PS3 gets my vote anyways..Graphics wise will piss all over a PC..I have never seen a PC game anywhere on any PC that would match GT5 or MGS4..

I got bored of building comps and went and bought an alienware just because everyone who has bought one has yet to complain about them.... Spec is
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ ( overclocked heavily )
2GB Ram
Dual NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
2 250GB Samsung Hardrives
Foxconn MotherBoard ( Some major spec mobo thats far to complicated for me )

crysis on full whack?
no because the general pc consumer doesnt know there getting ripped off they have a mild trust for a company like pc world that if the pc is a 1000 times more expensive than another unit its got to be alot better, in reality its about marketing... the 1000 pounds more expensive pc will have what a lil more ram, better graphics and better processer. At the price the big companies get the parts in they make bigger profits not pass it on to the consumer... You want the "best" computer with minor knowledge your gonna think that pc worlds most expensive delivers...
But then even if there putting the q6600 in as someone in else said thats not going to perform aswell as the hand picked components when building which would be better and still cheaper, pc world ram vs 8gig of pc8500... pc world mobo vs DFI x48... my examples were chosen because thats an equvilent you could of got for the value pc world give there pc's... o and we wont mention the power supplies : /
internet building companies are getting better but some are still using sub standard power supplies, bad cooling, useless cases, slow ram, cheap motherboards
it all comes as a premium for not building... and scrolling up i wrote alot but it actually took me under 5 mins i type fast :D lol

Whoah easy man no one is having a go at your bro (i think hes your bro not sure:P) just the spec could have been had for cheaper. However I agree with you not everyone has the time or skill to build there own PC and its far easier jsut to buy it with a warranty etc...
Though your point about a PS3 being more capable than a pc is crazy man, it would cost more than your PS3 but the pc will always have the edge as it can be ever improved.

Not entirely true if you look at it relatively.
You buy a console and thats it, works out the box and these days are pretty fecking awesome. No upgrading or fecking about.
PC you have to sink a fair bit of cash into it to keep it at teh top end of its gaming. New games come out that require more "power". Console just keeps going.
Lodas of positives and negatives to both

Sorry i mean graphically once you have spent the money the are awsome, but agreed, for the casual gamer consol is the way forward.

All parts come with a warranty anyway, whether you build it yourself or buy as a complete system.
You want a real test, run Crysis on full whack and see how that goes. Darn picky that game is, doesnt even run on my machine, just keeps failing and booting me back out to Vista desktop :(
Crysis Warhead is a good one too, runs much nicer than Crysis (when Crysis itself wants to be good)
as for PS3, i own one, and would say the graphical detail on them are no way near as nice as the PC can kick out. Daryl says is true, they aren't in the same league, you cant really compare a console to a gaming PC at all. You may have to sink a fair bit of money into a PC but its worth it if youre a hardcore gamer.
But as far as building a gaming spec PC goes, the high end stuff isnt necessarily better than a slightly lower spec that has been overclocked. It all depends on what you want from a system. I mean i run:
QC Phenom 9850 @2.5
2gb 1066 Crucial Ballistix RAM
160gb hdd
500gb hdd (storage;))
XFX 8800GT XXX 512mb Graphics card
700w psu
gigabyte ma790fx-dq6 mobo
and i still cant get Crysis to run smoothly if at all IIH
All other games play fine, all set to max and nothing out of place. Older games WILL run better as they arent designed for the higher spec thats about nowadays, like HL2. Newer games demand more.
Im awaiting RA3, if my system cant handle it well its going up for sale and im building an Intel system.

You should just be able to change the FSB to 333 with a multiplier of x9.
Voila, 3ghz without changing anything else. Overclocked my Q6600 that way (FSB was set to 272 with x9 standard) with stock cooler. 100% stable.

Go into your bios and set the FSB to 333, not 1333. Make sure the multiplier is set to x9.

RACE 07 is very good, BUT its absolutely AWSOME! with the Logitech G25 Steering wheel and pedals, makes the game utterly superb. I've set my fastest times with it too so it doesn't dis-advantage you in any way, have a good play with the settings too. I can post mine but its like driving without power steering, lots of torque steer, real 2hand on the steering wheel driving. Comes alive with the old BMW e30's, hated them when i used my wireless xbox 360 controller on my pc but the wheel just brings them alive!
Was about £150 for the wheel, but totally worth it. I've tried GTR and GTR2 which don't compare, the main game i play is Team Fortress 2, and Call Of Duty4, both excellent.
TF2 sucks up most my time tbh, i run a 8800gt graphics card slightly overclocked and its amazing value for money, although not the best it can do most games to a good standard, another good upgrade was my 22" widescreen lcd. Feels like i have to look left and right, lol!
Have you heard of a game coming out called Left4Dead? November is the release date, i had someone recommend it be the next game i buy.
Anyone else on Team Fortress2???

to the comments about the ps3 being better then the pc there is no way it will be better pc graphics will allways own all consoles and if you have played crysis on all the top settings then you will see the graphics of pc games and you can all ways upgrade pc's unlike the ps3 or xbox, not saying the consoles are bad i have both of them and you cant beat abit of xbox live
