some of you may remeber i got this to rebuild my vts then the dvla gave me a load of shit about it

well i aquired v5 for it now
but had no parts to use on it
so when awright bought his xsi to valver i bought the xsi engine off him
i have a set of 1.1 suspension (with vtr front struts n a drum beam)
n a spax kit with some polybushing an some group n touches

this will not be a tidy car i have flourescent orange morrettes morrors spoiler n bumpstrips on the vt kit so yea

will be stripped with a half cage n some corbeau bukets
and so far the cost of this project is 520 quid
and all i need is bodywork stuff n a few little pits likt he pipe from the fuel cap to the tank n a set of gear linkages

so yea cheap(ish) little nippy track toy whilst my vts gets the full rebuild it deserves
one i have the vts built this will be up for sale
will probably have swappd a few bits on it
a few of us rekon itll end up at about 150 bhp which from a 1.4 'westcoast' is madness
n the great thing is on insureance ect its a westy as its a 1400cc 8 valve
but will be about as quick as a cammed vts

on a serious note i cant see pics, but what are you planning on doing to get it up to 150? they are 100 standard or something? was thinking usual breathing mods plus cams, but would that get it up to 150? considering a cammed vtr will get around 120/130 from around same bhp, not saying you wont get it just wanting to know how your getting it

so badly wanted an xsi as a second car but another came up that was too good to refuse

xsi is 95 standard (with forgies in it)
ill get a 285 cam
mani n a pugsort (im just gunna hack my bumper)
n i can get a set of throttle bodies including everything (even the throttle cable) for 300 quid

so that should be hopefullyy around that region (maybe a tad abitious)

and as for wasting cash i have everything apart from a couple little bits off the 1.1 so its not that bad
n the tuning stuff will be bought bit by bit across the year
this is purely just to get me back out on track whilst i rebuild my vts

it works out about the same price as buying a vtr ect and track prepping that n itll be a tad nippier :D

that cant be including standalone ecu surely? or are you going to use the one that will eventually go on the vts? id just stick cams in but not map it, still be better than standard, think it would be daft to spend money on the remap, you could spend it on the s instead :D unless you can get uber cheap remaps

dont matter if the map is a bit off as its just gotta do like 1 trackday a month n ill be cleaning it ect between days n new oil every few ect so should hold up ok

right bit of an update

got all all the suspension stuff off my little 1.1 ready for it
so thats a spax kit and a polybushed rear drum beam with a 22mm arb in it
gunna put my vts wishbones up on with the group n bits (gunna just buy roup a stuff for my vts next year)

also got all the loom in (gunna start to swap the plugs about for the little bits like the rear lights and the side lights

and the interior (1 corbau forza and a steering wheel lmao)

so yea its not far off a rolling shell
and then the plan is that when my vts goes off to mr newton ill get my westy up the unit and drop the engine in
then its back home to plumb in the fuel tank and lines and bleed the brakes ect

sounds good on paper
lets see how well it works out in practise



oh also i got a few bits on just to keep it tidy

got a bit more wired up
and also fitted my new sound deadening (gaffer tape over a few holes)
so its all sealed up now no holes through to the engine bay

but the loom is getting there now

need to rewire the rear lights as the s1 106 plug doesnt match the saxo so ive gotta cut the plugs off my old 1.1 loom (so glad i kept that lol) and wire it up

then gotta do a few bits here and there

after its up and running ill rip all unessecary wires out
i think i can get away with having about 18 wires for the whole car
going to run stack dials for a tacho and oil temp water temp and oil pressure so dont need all the stuff for stanard dials (id have to buy a set and get them clocked anway) so might aswell just not have a mileage lol :D
its a track car and nothing has done the same mileage anyway so yea

should get it on either this weekend start of next week
aswell as the rear beam (having a slight problem getting the old one off due to the 1.1 brake lines being gay and not having a bias box so its just straight to the flexys that you cant reach properly

being as this is a hybrid saxo/s1 pug 106 i knew there would be a few little bits that didnt quite fit
but im coming across a few major ones

so far i think ill be running a dash as the fusebox is part of it and the other boxes attatch to it rather than the firewall like on a saxo :(
the wiring for a few plugs is different (im working my way through though)

and the biggest hurdle is the fuel tank
im having to fun the xsi tank nd pumps but with saxo fuel lines
and the saxo lines are around 6 inches too short to fit the xsi tank
so now i need some high pressure piping to make custom lines :(

hopefully wont be too hard one i have the pipe but its a ballache as otherwise i could have had the tank ready for the car tonight

why cant u just run a saxo... people always have to go one better with a hybrid between a pug, 3 dogs and a goose... always ends in tears :P

well the pug tank has 2 seperate bits for the pump nd level sensor (hence 2 holes n the floor) but the saxo runs 1

so the pug lines go to the furthest hole but the saxo is the closer 1

im doing this as its cheap and will be reaonably quick
so far its cost me 430 quid in total and has used a fair amount of the crap i had lying about

and i will get it to work
going to sort some line out later this week

colin unclip the 2 lines by the passenger rear arch
pull off the filler hose in the drivere rear arch

and then there are 2 12mm bolts holding it up
and then it slides backwards to come free

but earlier i took delivery of 1 xsi gearbox :D 100 quid well spent tbh

and also i got my first silver bodypart fot the car
a pug 106 quicksilver passenger door :D

not quite a saxo door but close enough

also fitting a ripped apart latch (removed all the unessecary stuff to save weight)

should fit to the car probably next week
