recently just done a vts conversion on my vtr got ecu back from blue hawk yesterday for unlocking, put it on car last night and the car is running crap wont tick over got to rev just to get it fire up and it spluttering and missing like mad when rev gentle u can build revs up but if u just plant your foot down it just seems to bog out and not want to know its as if its over fueling as there also alot a blue smoke from the exhaust and it stinks of unburnt fuel when i start it anyone got any ideas. ecu is fine as it works on my mates and the engine run fine before when we tryed his ecu whilst mine was as bluehawks.

did you change the cam belt ? if so, are all the timings correct?

Could be a dodgy lambda sensor if you know the engine was working fine before you got it, can you use your ECU on your mates car to see how it runs on that?.

Mine did the same, once the lamda sensor fault code was cleared off it was happy as larry. I also had a loose ecu plug.

Also check your spark plugs, with a missfire on one cylinder it will do as your describing too. Replace them if you can.

also. try putting an led onto your crank sensor. run the engine on idle for a while until warm, rev the engine and make sure the pattern the LED flashes in stays in a constant pattern, if the light is all over the place its more than likely a dodgy crank sensor
