They do require specific insurance and even if your insured 3rd on any otherwise covered car odd are this does not include a quad. Yes the require TAX and MOT but you only require a rear number plate. You have to have a helmet if there open as most are. There notoriously dangerous and make really horrific transport. Have had to use them in the past and hated them.

^^ in addition to AXracing's post another negative point is that they are expensive to repair and find bits for. a driver at work spend weeks trying to find a tyre for under £60

You dont ned to wear a hlmet on the road... a bit like a trike!! i have been looking at getting one for ages as a few mates got them. Bits for them are not that expensive if you shop around. I would highly recommend going for Yamaha Raptor 700 SE3 EFI. They are not the newest out but the look the best in my opinion. If you dnt want a 700 then they do the raptor in 660 but this is not quite as good, Does not have reverse like the 700 and is also on carb whereas the 700 is EFI.
Hope this helps!!

I've always seen quads as something that's great fun if your mate has one, but not so much if you have to drive it yourself every day...
Saw one going round a corner on 2 wheels in the summer, down the club strip. No helmet, t-shirt+shorts.... I was genuinely shocked. Probably get's alot of vag though..

living in the farm town of blandford theres a few around here one of them is prettty rapid tbh! and scares the crap out of me but its a suzuki so parts for that cant be to expensive and should be relativly easy to fix as engines are easily accessible!! i suppose if you get one of those nankang ones will cost a bomb!!

you dont need a helmet, they are fairly cheep to insure, they have cheap tax, just abit of a bugger to control, but they are alright to have a little rasp around town and such on
