Carbon Bonnet cleaning.

Hi all, just after some advice from someone who has a carbon fibre bonnet or whatever, how the hell do you keep it looking clean.

Myself and Marshy spent about half an hour to an hour polishing it up with rubbing compound and brought it up pretty good but has now gone abit dull due to the crap weather.

I tried a few other polishes etc before the rubbing compound and they just left a dull haze on the bonnet.

Whats the best stuff to use to buff it up shiny and protect it from our horrible british weather.

I recently done my friend carbon bonnet on his civic. I used Menzerna Final Finish P085RD with a polishing pad, followed up by a coat of Dodo Juice Purple Haze and a wipe down with Z8. And it now looks fantastic, deep gloss and the weave really stands out.

I have polished Carbon fibre before using PO106fa also :y: But I tend to stick to products with little cut on them. :y:

The menzerna products are pretty good as far as they can be worked by both machine or by hand. I have used both of the above by hand on a german applicator and got great results as the abrasives break down pretty easily. So long as you ensure you work the product till its gone clear you'll get a cracking looking bonnet in no time :y:

cool how much is a cheap but decent polisher? with pads and a few products for carbon also.

When i had a carbon procomp the thing i found best cleaned/polished it was my mums furniture polish/wax.

sprayed a little bit onto a cloth and it came up perfectly.

If its laquered, generally a decent polish with a strong layer of protection works fine. Ive used quite a few different ones but the best suprisingly was the autoglym extra gloss protection over megs cleaner wax.

Quite a dull day but you get the idea;

mine isnt laquered but it has a few scratches in the gel coat. just wondering if i can buff it up a bit. its a pro-comp one so dont really want to get rid
