Hi all.

Going to sort out my sound system this weekend, at the moment its a but of a bodge job with the amp wires going down the side of the car under the carpet.

My aim is to remove all the seats and run the cables down the center of the car.

anyone done this themselfs or know if its a hard job to do???

If its a relitivly easy/moderate task ill take pics while i do it and write up a "How To" for it

Thanks
Dan

sounds like a good idea mate.

The actual job itself is not that easy. the hardest part will be getting the leads through the bulk head of the car, i would suggest you lie on your back in the passenger footwell and locate the grommet that pokes through in to the engine bay by the side of your brake servo.

I've done it, and it took the best part of a day. And i didn't bother taking the seats out, i just rammed a metal section attached to the wire under the carpet and hey presto!!!!

BTW i moved the topic to a more appropriate forum smileys/smiley2.gif

At the moment, Ive royally done a newb thing, your all going to laugh lol.

I drilled a whole through my footwell going to my engine bay. LOOKS FUCKING TAKY and abit dodgy lol. Ill post pics of my NEWBY outburst later lol.

Dont panic i have closed the whole with a selent wax/placticiser so its not that newby. but i hate myself for that lol. couldnt be bothered to take the time to find a whole though the bulk. but hay, we all make newby mistake lol.

Got a feeling that the carpet MAY be clued down the the metal work. do you think that right??

If so ill have to rethink that lol

run the wires under the carpet, starting next to the bonnet catch under the p. footwell, then basicly follow it under the carpet all the way along the edge, right under the door then pass it under the plastic of the rear doorcards, under the rear seat, into the boot and hey presto u have hidden cables!

that would work, it's just a lbit of a bitch to get the carpet down around the door foot well bit.

pul up the rubber seal round the doors you can see the metal clips holding down the carpet pull them up and u can get under the carpet that way, run the wires down the side of the car its much easier

DO NOT put them down the side of the car

this is the first place they will get damaged/and or have a lot of interference

put the live through the bulkhead, next to the brake servo, straight under the carpet through next to the centre console where the gearstick etc is,past the seats/handbrake, then back out from under the carpet and up through under the back seats to the boot

also a good idea running the remote/preout cables etc this way too, not only does this improve the sound but it reduces the amount of wire your using

oh and if u need an earthing point - theres numerous bolts under the rear seats to affix it to
