I am the main and only driver on my policy for my Saxo but while I sale my car I am driving my other halfs car. At the moment I am a named driver, but in a week her policy is due and I will be the main driver on her car and she will be a named driver.
Can I be the main dirver on two policies as my car is currently parked on the road to advertise so need it insured.

i cant see there being a problem with that
as rich people with 5 cars are obviously the main driver on more than one policy!
i think its just you cant have 2 insurances on one vehicle as if you crash it you can claim twice and get twice as much money!
sorry i cant give you a deffo answer but im sure you can(y)

You can't, mate.
That's why technically it's illegal for you to be insured on your parent's insurance
ie. parent is main driver on their car AND kid's car, with kid as a named driver.
I tried to do it, and was told that you can't.
Bummer... :(

It was either last week, or the weekend before.
I wanted to see if i could cut my insurance, but when i said my Dad had a car that he was main driver of, they told me it couldn't be done.
It seems stupid, because as you've said, what happens if you have a daily driver and then something a bit special for the few days of the year that it's nice?

Don't know tbh...
you'd be best off ringing insurance people, or ask Chris Knott insurance on here!

Tbh if there was a serious problem they would of flagged it up themselves as he was with bell and elephant (same company).

ye exactly... you cant use NCB on more than one policy but i dont see why you cant insure other cars in your name...
whats david beckham gonna do then with his 10 cars?
insure them in random peoples names and him the named driver?
i dont think so...
personally i think its aload of rubbish that you cant take out insurance on another car!

I think people are getting mixed up with being the main driver and a named driver.
The main driver has to own the car and be the proposer of the insurance policy. You should be able to be the "main driver" on as many cars as you like.
A named driver is simply someone who is named on the insurance policy. They don't own the car or the insurance policy. Pretty sure there will be restrictions on this.

As you've already found out, you can be main driver as you put it on more than one policy. I've got 2 insurance policies, one for the saxo and one for the TVR. You can only use your NCB on one of those policies but some companies match your no claims. I phoned up Bell when I wanted to insure 2 cars and got them to match my no claims on a new policy for my second car. So I had 5 years NCB on both cars
