Drove to work this morning all good, parked up. A few hours later someone had driven into my car. I've got the cars registration details which someone kindly left on my car. What should i do? I know i need to find this person but how.

Or just phone your insurance company, tehy will find out the details of it all. Just make sure you make it clear you werent actually there and it was parked, they left a note because they drove into your car.

well, i dont think you really need to get the police involved. the person who crashed into your car left their details, so its not as if theyre trying to do a runner.

just report the incident to your insurance company. give them the details that you have been given and let them take care of it. after all, that is why you pay them.

you should call the police your not supposed to leave the scene of an accident!!

and it wasnt said if it was the driver who left their details or not!

if theyre fake details ull need a crime report no. neways so that u can have a non fault claim!

phone the insurance company, all they need is the reg number and you're sorted

I've got the cars registration details which someone kindly left on my car.

is it just the reg or have you got a name and address?

if it was left on your car by a witness you need to talk to the police and insurance

but if it was by the person who did it - id say just the insurance, as theyv been decent enough to admit they hit your car

pain in the arse mate, could've been a lot worse though i guess

Not true, as long as details are left to say they have hit his car. Its an offence for failing to stop. They did stop and left a note.

Dont need to involve police.
Depending on who you are insured with if no recovery is made a HWP sometimes goes down as a fault claim.

If you want me to try and find out name and address and who this car is insured with then give me the reg and I can do it for you. smileys/smiley2.gif

ummm it wasnt very clear if it was the driver or a witness who left the details. by reading jim's first post, i thought it was the driver who left their details and so that is why the police do not need to be involved.

and most cases, police are normally informed if its a serious accident and if there was damage to any public property as my mate found out.

he had an accident and managed to take out a two post sign. he didnt report it to the police, but he was caught and was then fined £500 to replace the sign.

I had someone leave a note on my old Cavalier saying "Someone drove in to your car, this is the reg number....... hope you sort it out xx". It was written in lipstick and smelt really nice smileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley2.gif

the person who left the details wasn't the driver of the car. it was a witness.
They told me in the note where the person parked their car. Ive also left a note on their car informing them to contact me asap. i've taken pictures of both cars, to cover my back. I'l be waiting in my car after work to have a few words with them. Ff u saw where my car was parked, u wouldn't understnd what happend.

jaybiss

go over and chat to them nicely

then if they deny it u need to find the witness and contact the police
