*UPDATE FIRST POST TO SAVE NEW THREAD*

Basically ive norrowed it down to the flashing green / amber lights on my ethernet cable.

If I unplug my ethernet cable the sound reverts back to normal and everything is spunky.

However, if I plug my ethernet cable back in the sound goes all Pete Tong again.

Any ideas now?

Original post:

Basically mine is fucked.

However we all pretty much have the same make / model PC tower in the office.

I think its something to do with my headphone jack rather than the sound card tbh

Either way... if I remove the part of the pc that has the headphone jack and plug it into my pc (swap them over) will they work or will I have to download / install anything?

You sure the soundcard isnt built into the motherboard. Thats usually the case will office based machines

Does that mean problems?

Well means you have to make sure its all earthed. That all the power is reconnected. All the IDE cables are connection (guesssing it will be IDE)

Its all a bit pointless for sound. Why not just buy a new soundcard and just put it in.

Opening the case, removing the card. Closing the case.

Opening the case, inserting the card. Closing the case.

Chances are the drivers will already be available in XP if not go onto the companies website and download the latest drivers.

Dont I have to be admin to install them?

Thing is I dont think it's the sound card I think it's the jack.

Where do I put that?

do you need sound at work? get them to replace the mobo/buy a soundcard!

or use usb headphones if its just the jack...

also check you havent muted anything by mistake :P

Nothing is muted because I can still hear the sounds / music but there is a rather anothing fuzz

Im not sure if its some sort of interference

Not really an old mother board though mate.

Do you know if you can just replace the headphone jack?
