Central locking is possessed

I've got a 1998 vts all standard. Most fun car I've ever owned.
Until this morning whilst driving the central locking started locking and unlocking 7 times every 2/3 mins. It does have an alarm and immob but the fob didn't come with the car. tried wd40 on all moving parts incase anything sticking, no joy. Any ideas

Check that there is no corrosion caused by dampness on the sensor circuit board. Its beside the sunroof winder. Water got into mine and the car locked/unlocked itself all nite until the battery ran out! A quick rub of the circuit board with steal wool sorted it out. Mite be something different but worth a try!

:O that's insane that, mine would lock at all before - turned out i needed a new battery - good luck with getting it sorted mate

Bluearmy, To get to the circuit board you have to take off the whole surrounding. Its pretty easy to do. You just pop out the light, the spotlight and the wee cover that covers the sensor. It comes off by squeezing both ends of it. You then take off the sunroof winder, think its held on by a torx screw. Once this is off you will be able to get to the board to which the sensor is connected.

Cleaned circuit up. RESULT well improvement at least. Door locks back to normal but hazards flash rapidly when I open the door or turn the ignition on
So i'm trying to price a new sensor circuit

Glad that helped! As for the hazards goin off, i dont think that would be caused by the sensor circuit board, sounds more like dampness is shorting the fuses. Take a hair dryer to the fuse box in the passenger side footwell fusebox. This will dry it out if ther is dampness. I mite be totally wrong but its worth a go!
