View Full Version : Fan not kicking in. Help please!!!!

I got a mk1 tr a few weeks ago. The other day was bringin it home and it started over heating. stoped let it cool and checked water. all fine then set off agen and realised fan wasn't kicking in. Anyone any suggestions?

Check fuse.

As above or check for loose connection on fan.

No fuses on the fan IIRC.

I'm assuming its a single plug fan since its a VTR. Power goes from the engine fusebox, to the blue switch thats screwed into the radiator. When this switch trips at its preset temperature, the power then passes through it to the radiator fan, which powers on - and then earths on the inside passenger wing.

If you've got a multimeter, check that you're getting 12V at the temperature switch.

Unless the wiring is faulty, then its either going to be the blue temperature switch, or the fan itself which is at fault.

fan bearing seized??? thats what happened to mine a few weeks back... just got a new fan fitted...

Fans sorted cars back on the road cheers
