GT4 106 Nurburgring Challenge

Right after having words with sayer the other day, thought it would be a laugh to have a mini compo with the same set of rules!
GT4 has been around a while now so dust it off and get some practice in and put up your time!
the aim of the game is just to get a nice scoreboard up and an aim to beat really, not just top place but moving up the leaderboard is always good!

so the rules!

arcade mode > time trial

Nurburgring Nordeschliefe

106 s16 in standard form (116bhp, 960kg)

Tyres of your own choosing!

i spend a LOT of time on the ring on this game.that was a half descent lap (my second one) but with a perfect lap under 9 is probably possible.

I mean, i used to play it near enough everyday driving on the ring. faster cars i can deal with, its the horrendous body roll and understeer i've got to get used to (seeing as its normally the 155 i'm ragging around!)

i would stay up and try, but i'm actually dying! laters!

edit: and the tyres. i've never used sports tyres, the first thing i buy for anything is racing mediums!

thanks man, it isn't what I'd call a smooth lap man. To be honest when I've been trying since I've had times where I was 1.4secs ahead of my ghost, then bummed it all up before the end. so I know there is room to improve but with such a long track and the necessity to carry as much speed as possible throughout it's difficult to put together a 100% perfect lap.

Manual dude. Offroad... pretty sure that would just slow you down lol I find most of the time half the car is on the curb and half is in the grass but really it's about carrying as much speed through the corners. With the car you've got to brake early and then accelerate pretty much before you start going round the corner. With gears you want to change around 6750rpm and no later because there is bugger all torque beyond that.

think that's everything but if you've got a question about a particular line through a corner or something then give me a shout :)

i have to say im genuienly (sp) strugling with this game and ive never been into the whole Gran tourismo games ..... but im giving it a good shot 20ish seconds of my time and only pick it up a few days ago tbf!!!:geek::geek::wacko::wacko::wacko:

got a lot of time on my hands though to be fair.
practice makes perfect though... so keep trying and keep going to the end! you might surprise yourself how your times drop if you just keep completing laps... you can shave a lot of time off towards the end as well by perfecting the lines.

in arcade you can't use nos dude... can you? Basically Arcade is the only way we can ensure everyone is playing fair otherwise it would be pointless setting the challenge in the first place

Cheers Ads, when i seen your times and some of the others i though no way.......there are a few corners i need to be a bit braver on........ between the "carousell"(sp) and the long back straight!!!! :fcuk::y:

that's the hardest bit really for me... mainly because it's right at the end and i usually give up midway through if I'm just too far behind my ghost time.

in Karussell, remain at 40ish mph until you're nearly round then full throttle... keep in 3rd dont change up (you'll lose speed as the gradient increases). You'll head up towards Hohe Acht you shouldn't have come off the accelerator at all. you dont need to brake for Hohe Acht... just let of the accelerator early and blip your way round... then it's full throttle... really actually for much of it you don't brake just simple lay off the throttle (except before Brunnchen)

ive been doing that with the break .......so i will try it this way instead,

lol im the same bout half way if the ghost car is in font by a sec or so re-start lol!!!!
