A buddy of mine just picked up this.

Not exactly standard. Has had a complete engine rebuild 2 months ago costing £3k. Before the rebuild it had a T78 single turbo conversion fitted along with all the right bits. The last time it was on the dyno it pulled 480bhp at the fly at 0.8bar, its capable of 1.8bar with the current fuel set up. If he spends about £2k, hes looking at a 600bhp motor

Hes changing the head lights for standard ones. Changing the colour of the inserts of the wheels and i think he's planning on getting a different front bumper.
More piccys

Back seats look a bit lumpy
Awesome cars though if they are looked after. I think the kit and spoiler suit the car. Not keen on the lights though, standards are much better

gash imo
I wouldnt go that far but the rear lights and tacky boot build dont make it my fav rx7, would never own one as there too fragile when tuned

Its still running in from its rebuild, fresh a daisy, full compression on each rotor, lovley.
Yea the front end really let it down at the minute. He owns a garage with a body shop so it wont take him long to get it looking alot better.
Noise it makes is awesome, cant even go above 4k yet but thats enough to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end.
I can see my bank account getting raped

just my personal opinion
the spoiler suits the car.. im not a fan of the mirrors or lights or body kit.. and i dont like the interior. thats just jap style though i guess
the boot build isnt really tacky.. bet it booms, and with quality too.. geny equiptment isnt cheap
the engine is what im intrested in

I love rx-7s just ill never be able to own one im happy with, almost every one has been owned by some tool who thinks massive wings and uber big jap kits rock.
a standard rx-7 with a v8 conversion would do nicely, and be reliable :D

those lights are nasty, plus those gold rims arent the best combo but each to their own.

I love RX-7s and don't get me wrong I realise the amount of money going into this project but this is another wasted example when a barry boy gets his hands on it.
Tell your mate to sourse some original bumpers etc and sell the body kit.
Take it performs better with a single turbo set up?

wait untill he is gettin single figure fuel consumption then see if you still want one.
unmodified they will only do about 15-17 mpg.

has it had its 40k rebuild?
LMAO, it's comments like this that make people believe that RX-7's are unreliable. Standard engines are good for upto 100K if looked after, and some have gone far beyond that. There is a common myth that the rotary engine will go pop at the drop of a hat, but that is not true. If looked after the engines are fairly strong and great fun, they enjoy being rev'd well past 7500 rpm and will do so day in day out as long as they get fresh oil every 3k.
Looks a nice car but tell your mate to ditch the rear and front lights for stock.
Also he'll be very lucky to see anything over 500bhp without serious porting carried out on the engine and his I/C set up will need changing to a V-mount layout.
Tell you mate to get onto: http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com and: http://www.fduk.org he'll find loads of info and they are a really helpful bunch of guys.
Also what's up with the catch tank, it's only got 1 pipe connected? (2nd pic down bottom rightish of the pic)
Make sure he lets it warm up and cool down FULLY before giving it the beans and switching it off, if he doesn't the turbo will cook the oil in the turbo feed and cause an oil feed failure.
I could go on for hrs here, if he's got any q's feel free to drop me a message or tell him to look out for Bobbit on MRC and FD:UK and i'll be happy to help. :y:

Take it performs better with a single turbo set up?
Yes, stock they are about 235-255 depending if it's a UK or jap model, thats on the sequential twin turbo set up, going single reduces low down responce but the overall gains at the top end are impressive. On the standard set up they see full boost at 2000 rpm and will stay on boost untill the 8000rpm redline. A T78 turbo will see full boost at about 4000-5000 rpm but all hell will break loose when it does :y:
