u need to oped bleed screws and just fill radiator up and keep filling till the water comes through the bleed screws without any air bubbles then put screws back on whilst water is still pouring out

no need for the engine to be running, just top it up and bleed it out.

right well i cant help on changing the thermostat but ill talk you thro the bleeding.... its easy mate im a new driver and never touched an engine in my life but i managed to do this on my own!
open the 3 bleed screws (see the link i put up earlier for pics of bleed screws) and open the radiator fill up point then use a empty 2 litre coke/lemonade bottle cut the bottom of the bottle off and put it in the radiator filling point keep filling with water and coolant (check coolant bottle for dilution guide) till water comes out of the bleed screws without any air bubbles in it, whilst the water is coming out of the bleed screws put screws back in. stop filling the radiator filling point. bobs your uncle!!!
dont worry about filling the radiator too much either as it will sort itself out(i was worried about this)....
put radiator filling cap back on start engine and let it run keeping your eye on the temp gauge... if this has been fixed your temp will be its normal self...(possibly middle of the gauge) if it still overheats then its a different problem....like thermostat....
hope that helps
if need more help give me a shout! :)

as soon as the water coming out of the bleed screws has a constant flow then put screws back on.
let us know if it works :)
i did mine last wednesday and its been fine since!
before you drive it after you have done the above just check the water lever again(it might need a bit of a fill up) then check it again in a few days time...that will be when you know if its properly fixed :)
