Back number plate light

I was wondering, is it the law to have a back number plate light. If so how do you light it up when number plate is on back bumper?

u have to have them, u run a risk of being pulled buy a copper otherwise

and will fail MOT

i dont have any number plate lights on my car but have not had any problems with cops (touch wood)

however, i have had an MOT done and it was ONE of the things it failed for smileys/smiley19.gif

so, its off for a "special" mot shortly smileys/smiley2.gif

i used to have them bolt lights but didnt think they were V.good, not worth the £
