Does anyone on here that works overtime but has problems been paid for it?

In total, I worked 40 hours overtime and been paid 17 hours of it. I spoke to our manager the last week, he told me all the money I was owed will be in my account this coming payday but received my wage slip and been paid for ONLY 6 hours when I'm owed another 23 hours.

Sick of this now, relying on the money for christmas presents, going down to Mikes house and my service this month.

Our Financial Controller is getting an e-mail from me later, he his the one who should authorise all this.

Rant over!

yeah our company took overtime away and introduced "flexible working" which means you bank hours to use as time off instead. f**king rubbish would much rather have cash than a day off!

That's a nightmare Luke mate. It's never good not getting the money you are owed.

I personally don't get overtime pay even if i work late so never affects me.

I get a Salary, so don't get paid O/T..... I start work at 7:30 most days and finish at 5, plus I very rarely have a lunch break.... so that's 2.5 hours each day I don't get paid for............................. Oh Well!!

Chris :)

Haha yes. My problem is I rack up probably about 30-45 minutes at least every day of overtime and get paid fuck all for it.

If I leave at 5.30, which is when Im legally contracted to do, I still get 'part time' shouts....

Lol stupid eh.

It's just annoying as in this kind of job - I need to do overtime and I'd like to paid what I'm owed.

I basically work through my lunch too. If people can see Im clearly eating my lunch at my desk they will come over especially and ask me to do things. Then if I say 'ok give us a sec, just eating this' they get annoyed. Makes me wanna launch them out the window.

i get this all the time

they missed a full 2 weeks wages off my pay

i went to the manager, nothing was done, they kept saying it would be in next months pay

started writing to head office, it was only on the 5th letter that they decided to contact me and pay me!!!! and that was only because i threatened legal action

pisses me off so much, i write down all my hours (overtime) and make sure each week im put onto the system, you shouldnt get this much hassle with work!

Yup but we're only a small company like 8-10 of us.

It gets paid but usually its a few week later.

Im an Account Manager...Basically Sales. Sometimes it can be in my interest to stay behind, the other day I completed a deal making the company about £1-2k at like 6PM, so tidy profit and decent commission for me.

Oh wait I dont even get paid comission haha. Why do I bother?

I'm yet to have a problem with my overtime.

I always keep note of the hours i do and check it when i get my pay packet.

So far so god!

Robb
30th October 2008, 11:27
Think Im gonna start making note of how much overtime I do each day.

Everyone else I know who works, gets serious credit from there managers for doing overtime and gets overtime pay/time and a half pay... I get neither.

Garry_T
30th October 2008, 11:32

Before all this 'recession' shit I was king of the OT in our office.

Instead of being sat at home I was in work till gone 8pm most nights and saturday mornings. Racked up like 63hours in one month and took home 2.5k after tax. Loved it. But was tiring.

Luke
30th October 2008, 11:46
Yeah, that's only problem - tiring.

We told overtime is on for the time being due to our year end soon, then the buggers don't pay us.

Robb
30th October 2008, 11:56
Easy for you Adam, imagine doing a few hours overtime....then having to drive an hour to get home.....to get home to a nagging girlfriend..... and not even being paid for overtime in the first place lol.

I dont find it tiring. I dont mind once im here. Its the getting up on a morning knowing you have a long day ahead.

This morning alarm went off, i got up and was ready, then realised i was getting home till gone 6 so i curled back up in bed and ended up sleeping in lol.

Robb
30th October 2008, 12:08
My radio alarm went off this morning. Cant remember anything that was on but I have Wheetus - Just A Little Respect stuck in my head.

Then I got my wake up call. Which got me out of bed. Was gonna try and answer and scream but I was too slow.

30th October 2008, 12:11
I don't get payed over time either all I get is hours to be banked and used at a later date, which to be honest is good. Gives me time for myself more I find I'd rather have a few hours to spend with my saxo than if I got an extra fiver here and there

Luke

Just had a word with the payroll manager, it's all the recent stuff I have been paid but not the old August overtime so least I know what I'm owed now.

i work 40 hours extra a week and get paid no overtime!!!!

SaxoLuverShane
30th October 2008, 14:43
I have a similar problem

I worked overtime, assured that I will be payed time and a half for it, I managed to clock up a full weeks worth of overtime up, then, because it was exactly a week, the A.Manager keeps trying to get me to take a week off, yet I still have all my holiday to take anyway, I made my opinion clear that I am having the money, not a week off, which they seem to have accepted now, but they then use the line "We are over budget for staff pay, just wait a month or two till the wages bill falls" .. this was four months ago.. Still waiting now!

Going to have a final word with the manager and if nothing comes of it, I will ring up the area manager directly =/
